So my starter took a dump on my eliminator Daytona 19 / BBC. From the looks of it I can't remove the starter
without pulling the motor since Chevy has the starter bolts coming up from the bottom. I can get to one of the bolts but the second one is up under the tunnel and I can get a wrench to it. Am I overlooking an easier way?
What starter brand is a good replacement, 11/1 compression?

I've never tried to pull my starter in the boat, but maybe if you pull the header out of the way you can un bolt it, leaving the bolts in the starter until you slide it out. Other wise your lifting the motor high enough to get to it.
As far as what to replace it with, I would have what's there rebuilt. I run a mini starter on mine and I have to shave about 3/8" off the corner of the starter to clear the tunnel. I don't know if the Daytona's have more clearance, but in my Ultra, there's no way I see a stock size starter fitting.

I just finished with my starter/flex plate issues on BBC, i had to do some twister like shit, to get socket in there but i did it over and over.. not sure how yours looks but i had to unscrew the inner bolt first then the outter..I am using a mini starter as well...I couldnt imagine it coming out if it was a regular size starter?

Any recommendations on a shop to rebuild the starter and solenoid? I'm in Orange County.

Sorry I'm in Riverside so I don't know any shops in OC. Maybe some one in the OC can chime in.
