Let's play What Would You Do?
So a very good friend of mine wants to buy my boat. Don't really want to sell but . . .
a) I need money for the Spectra (carpet, carb, battery, diverter all need to be bought)
b) Kind of afraid to sell an old Olds to a friend but I have explained the need to watch the gauge ALWAYS
c) Afraid no one else will ever want this type of a hull (think Titanic)
d) The Wriedt needs the swim step stripped of polyurethane and some love, diverter and bilge controls need replacement, stereo and speakers are pretty shot
I think I can get close to $4000 for her. For those of you who know my boat -- do you think I should sell her?

sell it and dont look back, just be totally honest in what it needs so you can sleep at night.

If you can be sure the money goes into the boat fund and not the next project around the house (kitchen >:D ) .... help him hook up the trailer and get going on the next one

all i read was "OLDS" and first thing i thought was "sell it"
but im not really a fan of selling things to friends/family. #1 in case something goes wrong i dont want to be the bad guy, and #2 if they dont take care of it i dont wanna sit back and watch it turn into a pile of crud after all my hard work.

Gotta go with Ralph on this one. Just be honest. Keith on the other hand :screwy: :screwy: ::). In your case, you have other boats to play with. My case, I just have to bitch for Ralph, Skip, Keith, or anybody else that will have me ;D.

I would totally agree, NO KITCHEN REMODELS!!!! >:D . But at $4000, we're not talking about problem free, turnkey money either...... :screwy:

NEVER loan money to, borrow money from or sell anything to friends or family all you will end up doing is loosing said friend or family member. It doesn't matter that you tell them all that is wrong, write instructions that you engrave on the boat and prepare a two hour long DVD instructional video. They will somehow f it up and it will be your fault!!!!
Just my nickle.

What Ralph said... If I could sell my cruiser for a decent price id be all over it. On the other hand, you lose the stabbin cabin. Ehhh....
