Hey guys, thanks for the happy wishes. Mom is recovering, albeit slowly. She's talking and spent about an hour or so sitting in a wheelchair today. She knows my sister and brother but sadly doesn't really remember me or her own name. The fact she's doing that stuff is a really positive sign. The asshole trauma neurologist told us a "5% chance of recovery" and she's making that guy look like a quack. She's off the oxygen and that means the trach can come out at the end of the week. Theres obviously some brain damage but she can rehab and learn stuff again. I'm really hopeful she can come home and not to nursing home. She is in physical, occupational and speech therapy. Things are looking up so far, she's going to have a long hard road ahead, but, woohoo I'm feeling really positive.
By the way, she grew up water skiing and her and my pops were the reason I'm boating myself and taught me everything I know about it. We were McIntyre regulars for years and years when I was a kid. After my dad died we stopped going for around 15 or so years because I just didn't pull the boat out of the garage. I decided that is was time to start up again and ran into UncleBobby and 5150Whiteboy and they told me about this site. Since then I've made some more pals here and look forward to making more. We'll see what happens when my mom is ready for something to be done, it might be next season might be never.
