I desperatly need a boat cover....the neighbors tree is trashing the southwind.....
then i guess a strom rolled through last night....went out in the back yard and there was tree debris all over....went and checked on the boat and it looked like a mud bath on the bow and a ton of tree debris all inside.
so ive been lookin around for a boat cover online.....im trying to keep it in the $100-$200 range. it doesnt need to be trailerable.....just looking for something inexpensive, but wont tear when the first wind storm comes through.
any suggestions? what kind of luck do you guys have with your boat covers?
tomorrow im going to throw the parachute back on it that the previous owner used and weigh it down with rocks/blocks/bricks around on the ground to help keep the shit out. i trashed the canvas cover he gave me...it was so badly rotted and tore up it was less then useless.

That's true, we don't have anyone on here that I know of with a line on covers. (Good ones). Could use a couple myself as the Moo looses her place in the 'rage for the Submarine project.

well i think everyone knows how i feel about covers :-\ but i would go to wallyworld and get on of those cheap gray ones i had one on my four winns and it lasted for years

I bought one from Tom last year and its was pretty nice until the dog got to it.

Not sure if they sell them this season or not. But Costco had covers (have one) that fit my 18 Marlin perfect. They also had great prices on life vests and wet suits.

pep boys has these cheap covers for <$100. They are the blue ones. These work great. They do breath a and are damn near waterproof. For a c-note it would be hard to beat, IMO.

I got a real nice one at Walmart Suprisingly. Drawstring elastic all the way around. going across it every 4ft or so was a strap with a buckle to run under to boat to keep it down tight. PLus you could tow with it. ONly 100 bucks. Dogs got mine though. Plus my rear bench last night. :mad:

When I bought my boat it came with a cover the guy said he bought at Costco,said he paid $100 for it. It's pretty bitchen' for a "storage",not towable cover. Very thick,water proof and has tie downs all around it so it goes on real tight and keeps the DAMN CATS out too! ;D Tracy

i got one from Wally world that worked geat.. the last two i bought from the Bass pro shop in Vegas even better and trailerable ;)
i think i still have the one from wallmart rolled up in the shed ???

i washed down the boat and got it covered with the parachute....(yes, its litterally a parachute)
and weighed it down around the edges with boards n blocks.....wind kicked up a few times before i left for work and it seemed like it was ok....otherwise im fishing out a parachute in the neighbors tree in the morning (good reason to cut it down, eh?) ;D

Those and the old Duece and a half canvas bed covers from the Army my dad still uses to cover his equipment ion the yard back east, lol. (Covered many a car with those heavy bastards!)

I got this one from West Marine for $150... Doesn't fit perfect but works okay. Just didn't have it in me to leave the boat out in the elements at all times, bought it on the way home from picking the boat up. It's polyester and is the cheapest one they had.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the boat cover advice. Went to Wallyworld about 6 months ago and the boat has been dry since. Best 130 i ever spent!

I bought one of those portable carport/garage/canope from Sam's Club for $200. Tarp & pvc type tubing. Worked good enough for Yuma winds. Last 2 summers.

I have an old fabric one thats pretty water resistant except where it makes low spots, and so for this last rain, I covered the entire boat with plastic sheeting and stuck a rectangular box on end in the front and back to make high points in the plastic, and then threw the cover over it. Worked great, except my boat looks like the merrimac now lol.

I have the original canvas cover that came with my boat, but it is too pretty to leave on the boat to be destroyed by uv rays. The one i bought from Wal-Mart looks very similar too it and hugged the lines of the boat rather well. The nicest part is it appears to breathe and has kept the boat extremely dry. Hopefully it holds up as well to the snow this winter. Thanks again for the wealth of information that all of the members bring to this site.
