just so I have this straight, is this for liability or for damage to the boat?

Both.

It is my understanding that if your boat causes damage to a vehicle while it is being towed, it is the boat insurer that comes into play.  Is that right?   Frankly I worry about my boat getting damaged on the road much more than me damaging someone or thing on the water.

I asked my agent about that John, on my auto policy my trailer is covered, if it damages something, they'll cover it. But they won't cover the cargo, in this case a boat. That's what boat insurance is for. Fukking insurance is a scam, and if there were less lawyers we wouldn't even need the shit.

so if you only want liability then any insurer should write a policy if you will pay the premium?

No. I think not. from what I gathered on this, they will write it, yes, but will they PAY when the time comes or re-nig due to a clause the writer and underwriter didn"t know about (seems to me to be the O/T headers as the issue), probably not!

I'm in a quagmire on this, having read the thread, as I've insured my boats through State farm (Who carry my car insurance, homeowners insurance, and some life insurance). They, at first, didn't want to write Moo, or Pickle, later, until I said, well, OK, I'll take my business elsewhere. Then they did. They have pictures of BOTH boats, and I have a saved e-mail sending them those.

Now I'm really unsure if I'm covered or not! After my Beisemeyer experience, well, this is troubling at best!
