Might purchase this cee bee avenger for my first boat what do you all think?

Hey everyone new member here. Been lurking for a few years. Have owned a lot of jet skis, family members own some pontoons and bow riders. Never owned a boat myself though. Looking for a project for my 9 year old son and I. I pretty mechanically inclines do repairs don’t worry me. I came across this 1969 Avenger 17 footer with merc 115. The original owner is selling it. Has original owners manuals, and looks to be well taken care of. He said the engine was completely rebuilt and the wired a few years ago. Currently not running I guess because the throttle linkages need to be synched he says. Trailer been rewired also. The transom and floor he said are in good shape and not soft or rotted. Needs interior work.

Looking to just cruise around with my wife and two small kids basically thru the Havasu channel. Pull up to the sand and enjoy the day. He wants 500 for it. What do you guys think?

My 2 cents is that you will end up with more money into it then it would ever be worth it reminds me of my first boat ( first boat mistake) I bought it just wanting to have something to get on the water with in the end I happily payed some one to get it out of my driveway it also would not be a good fit for the lake any rough water could be dangerous to you and the family

I thought maybe I could have some fun with my son and eventually sell it and upgrade. How much do you guys think this boat is worth if it was turnkey? Say new interior as well?

$1500 2500 tops (to the right person) it could nickel and dime you to the point u had more then that into it it would have to be Cherry all original gel perfect interior etc. The powerplants pretty

Well guys I ended up buying it last night. Super excited. It does need some work obviously. But for 500 I feel it was a great deal

What is the reputation of Avenger boats? This will be strictly going in lake havasu mostly in the channel. Will it get laughed at while cruising with all the high dollar boats or will I get the thumbs up?
