So all your parts are over 20+ years old... My current BBF runs great. BTW this started years ago then they filed bankruptcy 2009 or so which keeps them from paying the ones who lost.

Ford has had it's issues too... Remember the Firestone/Explorer cover up?

Anytime there is profit to be protected, there is shady shit going on...

So you took a motor or bought a boat with a motor 35+ year old parts and haven't done anything to it.... same block,heads,pistons,valves,cam...ect. Anyway look further up the thread to see the BBF hater and see his point and question him thanx and have a great day. Ford didn't take the welfare check... If you truly love your chevy join together and send them a letter forcing them to pay damages to those who lost prior to there Bankruptcy.

Post by: SoCalPSD on April 07, 2014, 07:37:18 AM
I'm gonna have to join this pissing match. The green kona I have/had is powered by the original Hardin marine 455. When I opened it up, it still had the original cam which leads me to believe the motor was never opened up which kinda backs the guy I got it from stating so. And that thing ran great every time t took it out before I freshened it up which it probably didn't even need. My old 84 k5 blazer I bribed my brother through high school with was unmolested with the exception of a auto zone sun pro gauge trio. It leaked so bad you never had to do an oil change, add a quart every week or so and change the oil filter every 3000 miles. It never really even went into overdrive and if it did it would kick in and out of it so it was always driven with od locked out. Carb would never hold a tune and runs so rich I wouldn't be surprised if you took a match to the tail pipe it would turn into a flame thrower. Stereo worked when it wanted to and the same with the a/c, heater, all the power windows and we still can't keep rear shocks on the thing with out the studs snapping.

Yah most of this stuff is something that just needs to be taken care of with some tlc but either way I drove it on and of for two years before I gave it to him in 09 and he drives it 2-3 times a week to work and it's never broke down or given him a problem other than whats listed.

Now my dad, my brother and myself all own ford trucks as well. My dads 01 f250 with the 5.4 seized the motor just over 120k miles cruising the freeway at 60. My brothers 04 ranger same thing, seized the 3.0 v6 with 88k miles on it cruising the freeway at 70. I own a 99 f250 with the almighty 7.3 powerstroke. It lost all compression in #7 and the other 7 cylinders were all low with only 200k on the odometer only 7 months after I bought it. All three trucks were maintained, all three had been to ford for all the recalls and guess what. The ranger took a dump because of the the "cam synchronizer shaft". basically a distributor with a sensor on it opposed to a cap and wires which was replaced a few months prior to it locking up in 2013 by ford under a recall because they were failing a causing the problem. My old mans f250 lost the timing chain, which had been replaced just over a year prior when he took it in for for that recall and the infamous fire starting windshield wipe system. And my F250, it went because of the crappy air box that ford put on the truck which had been replaced 3 times by ford verified by an oasis report prior to me buying it.

I long blocked my brothers and dads trucks and both are still running strong 20 and 60 thousand miles later I'll give them that. Myself, I'm still contemplating if my trucks worth fixing 2 years later.

I will say this, I'll NEVER buy another ford product and that's because after my first oil change on my company truck which is a 2012 chevy, the "tech" double gasketed the oil filter which blew out and drained on the freeway locking the motor. The dealership drove out and picked me up 60 miles away and offered my company a brand new truck after to talking to corporate. They even had the porters help me swap all my stuff from my bins into the new truck.

I'll be a chevy guy for life.

Mitsubishi did the same thing for one of my girls friends. She had am 2011 Evo, always took it back to same dealership she purchased it from. The mechanic left the oil plug finger tight, dropped all the oil on the freeway. They picked her up like 45 miles away brought her to the dealership and she was out the door in a new 2013 Evo that same day. They also told her the services would be free and next time she came in they would swap out the stock wheels, to whatever aftermarket wheels she wanted.

My boss has a 2012 Tundra that has the trd supercharger on it installed at the dealer. The thing pre-detonates anytime you stab it. He has taken it to the dealer to get this fixed multiple times and the dealer cant figure out whats up with it. They wont warranty it either. It has even been to corporate and still nothing. He also had the rack and pinion go out on it in the first 4 months of having the thing.
 I wouldn't buy one.

If it wasn't for our Chevy's,
our tools would rust.

From the past 10 years, about 95% of Chevy trucks are still on the
road. The rest made it home.

Have you seen the new speed limit signs? They say "Speed limit 65,
Chevys-do the
best you can"

Thats not a leak, my Chevy's just marking its territory.

Buy a Chevy and you buy the best. Drive the first mile and walk the
rest.

I could never keep a Chevyunder me, I was always under the Chevy.

Speed Kills, Drive a Chevyand live forever.

A Texan was talking big in a bar one night about how much money he
had, how
many women he had been with and how much land he owned. A young man,
growing tired of all the big talk finally asked the Texan, "Just how
much land do you actually own"? The Texan tipped back his cowboy hat
and said to the young
man " Well sonny let me put it to ya like this, I can get in my pickup
at sunrise, drive all day long, skip lunch and still not get to the
other side of my property by sundown". The young man shot back
quickly, " Oh yeah, I know what you mean, I used to own a Chevy truck
too"!

"Chevy, built like a rock and runs like one too."
That wore me out.
Thank God I own a Ford

And three Chevys!!

Ford in a ford buddie. Chevy people buy ford and put a cheap ass 350 Chevy in it killing the value.

No they put it in there to piss you ford fans off lol. And cheaper to make reliable hp.

Anyone got any positive boat meanings?

Personally, the "bust out another thousand" saying gets old, especially by people that don't even have a boat.

Have fun sitting on the shore!

okay I'm going to put an end to this Ford Chevy rivalry and tell you guys what's the difference between the two so you actually know instead of just liking the bowtie versus the oval okay. Chevrolet cheaper parts and the tolerances with in a Chevrolet motor are more forgiving so the average Joe can go and buy parts and bolt them on in the motor n will pretty much run okay that to some is a plus plus being cheaper ok now Ford high quality product but very less forgiving in your tolerances as it is. It has to be set up right everything has to be within the right tolerance now the average home guy does not know these things so then he does not know how to build a ford motor also the valves in a older ford are not very good they are actually three kinds of metal within  one valve so at above 4500 rpm those valves tend to break or drop now if you buy a solid valve 1 metal type your Ford will run forever they create tons of horsepower there torque monsters Chevrolet's a good motor to its just ford have to be set up right chevys are more forgiving than Ford for the home garage guys.

And that boys is why im Batman do u see the new hero status★★★★★

Doesn't piss me off... I just know my same Ford/model is worth more and reliable. But your chevy is definitely cheaper.

Haha it's all in good fun. There's always gonna be a rivalry between the two. Both have there problems and benefits. I grew up in a Chevy family but I've driven a couple fords. And when I was looking for another boat I was considering buying one with a bbf.

When I first bought my other boat I had just turned 21 and I was stoked. Had it out front washing it and cleaning everything and the dick head neighbor came over stared at me and said. You know what boat stands for right ?.... Busy out another thousand 😑. Not what I wanted to hear being a new boat owner

Haha it's all good man. Just having a laugh in all good fun. Ford and Chevy will always have a rivalry but most boats have either one 👍 so they must be good

INDEED!!!

Some of the best times in my life have been around boats.

The saying I hate the most is, "The two best days of a boat owner's life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it."  Whenever I struggle, there is always someone there to throw that one in my face.

Cheers,

Joe
