I used to live down the street from Boyd's old shop on Cerritos in Stanton. I always saw him driving to his shop early in the morning. While I did not know him, I admired alot of his work. He built some beautiful rods in his time and his work will stand the test of time.

My neighbor has one of his roadsters. Looks REALLY nice, he's had it nearly 4 years and it's still going strong with 12,000 miles on it. Some of the workmanship is apparently lacking if you start looking inside compartments and stuff. But the car is doing great as far as I know!
An old school innovator will be missed by the community I'm sure.

I met him very briefly in the early eighties, seemed like a dik but what the hell do I know, he could have just been in a hurry.

He had some cool cars come out of his shops... RIP

I'm friends with his kid Gregg, and one of my best friends works there. Boyd was a DICK! Plain and simple, if it wasn't for Lil John Buttera, Boyd would be just another asshole in a street rod. I knew him for 15 years, even as a frail old fuck he was a huge DICK

That's the impression I got, but like I said... he could have just been in a hurry.  :banghead:

yeah i agree, he will be missed but he was a DICK!...im good friends with his god-daughter, and she didnt seem too phased today by his passing, she really didnt care much... yes he was an asshole, but he sure was a smart man when it came to innovations of certain 'billet rods'...

RIP
