Title: Bubble Deck Knowledge test
Post by: jet boat performance on September 26, 2009, 09:05:51 PM
Posted this on PB too ... here ya go Guys : Test your Jet Boat Knowledge !! I have the honor of having three nice VERY similar 18' V-bottom bubble deck boats in the shop right now , all at the same time . Two get (or are getting)  a motor , one just got a partial resto and , two are full stringer one is "motor box" type all are extremely and "amazingly"  close in design , measurements and construction they are an 87' a 78' and 77' , they are three different manufacturer's. One is Orange One Yellow and one Burgandy The "Quest" is to accurately guess the not only the bulider but the year if you guys are interested the will be "Swag" for the most accurate guess , we'll let it run a while for S's and G's  :D Tom

PS this will also show the "remarkable "similarities in the and other manufacturers boats of that "Era" ;)

Guesses  should go like this : Yellow 87' "Zodiac" , Orange ... etc I have more picsa but the site wont upload more than 10 per post

(previous owners are excluded;))

Tom, you gotta give us something.
Out of the 6 answers given, how many were right?
I'm fairly comfortable the boat Mfg's, but the years. Purple metalflake mid 70's / solid colors with the dart mid 70's to early 80's / hockey sticks forever, but the side strips on that boat may tell us more.

Alright, made my last changes. I'll let others play.
Check out the bottoms on the red one and the yellow one. Looks like Dennis splashed one from Bob.

Bahner was my second choice on on that one. I know Carrera used Hensley trailers, but wasn't sure about Bahner. Good Luck.
I think Tom said something about the winner getting a free stanless impeller.

Congrats to Crew

Tom the reason I went with Carrera was because of this brochure. Looks like the same deck as the Bahner. Somebody splashed somebody. The way the transom rolls down / the notch in the gunwale by the front seats / the lip at the top of the bubble deck / and the similar deck graphics. After Crew called it a Bahner, I figured I got it wrong. With the stripe going back thru the deck reminded me of my Advantage when I ordered it in 89'. Harry along with his painter Pringle wanted to do that with mine. Harry and Bahner were friends and wouldn't doubt if they had something to do with the gel and/or layup.

87 Bahner and 87 Carrera?????
I've got an 87 Carrera (according to title)  The hull and gel coat is virtually identical to the 87 Bahner in the Knowlege test
I've just been snooping to try to find out more about my boat.  Other than I love it, just want to know more about it's history.
Anybody still following this thread??
