Title: Ca DMV quagga mussel fee almost doubled my renewal fee

I am not complaining. It just caught me off guard. I never noticed the fee before because I always renewed at the DMV. Does anyone know how long they have been charging this?

Its the first year they are doing it. 32$ still isnt bad compared to most states.

dang...... mussel fee..... we register with fish and game.  2 years.  I'd have to look but I think
mine was 14.00. 
the title fee was 12 bucks....... no other fees

no mussel checks  / hot water baths / seals. / inspections etc

I saw exactly ONE game warden all season , he was at the marina helping a guy tow his boat to the ramp on 4th of July weekend....

u know what doubled my renewal fee?  the asshat who bought my tahiti and didnt bother to register/transfer the title...  :banghead:

dmv obviously knows nothign about the release of liability that i dropped off.   :screwy:

i guess i own 2 boats/trailers still.   :mad:

The sticker for exhaust is only required if bought on or after 5/05

It's on mine too. Gotta pay for the guy to stand in Vidal Junction and pressure wash your boat.

Same here and I already have a inspection sticker on my boat and the trailer, was at Clearlake in NoCal over the 4th of July and had to do inspection ,2 stickers on boat and one on trailer. The inspection was free but a pita so I guess that's what the new fees cover

I got hit with that to and didn't even realize it till I saw that ugly sticker that they give you  :o

Where do the new stickers need to go? I was thinking the lower rear gunwhale so the muscles can see I paid.
