So last year I put a 500hp 454 in my boat it's a 94 Caribbean 20.5' openbow it will now do 62mph up river on gps. Last year coming back from pirates there were 6 adults and 2 kids most everybody but my largest buddy up front was sittin behind me because the ride up front is shit. I had the jetavator all the way down but I still couldn't keep the front of the boat down it want to hop so I kept having to get out of the throttle. Would a droop and ride plate help this????? Also when trying to fock around with the jetovator all the way up it will not throw a roost. I bought a slight wedge for that but haven't put it in for fear it will make it even harder to keep the front down under heavy throttle??? Come on experts i need all your advice!!!!

IMHO you are trying to do two things at once that are polar opposites of each other.... :screwy:
In all honesty it sounds to me like something a FUBAR with your Place Diverter set up.
Can you get a picture of the Diverter in the all the way up and all the way down positions?
You should be able to bury the boat pretty hard with the nozzle all the way down, as for the roost, lets work on one issue at a time. DO NOT INSTALL A WEDGE.

Mine had a real bad porpoise. I added some HP... an aggressor 9 vane(2" longer than a G), 4 degree pin straight snoot and bolt on ride plate/shoe. I had the straight snoot on 2 years ago with a modified split C and just that helped out some but the plate/shoe was the icing. I always had the diverter and down eliminated any bounce but killed the speed. Just the slightest ripple on the water now at higher speeds, you can feel the boat release from the water and increase in speed. I never felt that till the plate/shoe. Over all bringing back the thrust and having a diverter helped out with the leverage....fyi I have a 30 gal belly tank and subs under my closed bow.

Both my boat and my nephews boats had the same porpoise problem
I ended up running a droop with a bolt on ride plate, 4deg down shim and had a wedge made to shim the back of the ride plate down.
Im sure it affects the mph but in a 21ob cruiser its more the ride than speed for me. I also set my nephews pump up the same way. No more problem

Personally I think the boat is fighting itself.... Full down means its pushing the bow down on the water and basic physics the water is pushing back....and its a never ending battle (hop)
What happens if you run it mid nozzle (straight)?
Is it only a problem with a lot of weight (number of people not fat chicks) in the boat?
If youre cruising at a mild speed and it starts hopping, if you raise it a few hundred RPMs, does it get better/worse?
And under any circumstances, fat chicks are never a solution.

X2 on the fat chicks. They are never an option. The extra weight is never worth the risk. Even mid week when no one is around...lol
