Title: Can I jet this?
Post by: countryboyaustin on May 19, 2010, 06:52:30 PM
I am considering buyin this boat. It is set up with an IO 350 and a alpha one outdrive. My question is can I LATER convert this boat using a Berk jet drive that I have? I think it would be SUPER cool to have a jet pontoon with OT pipes and loud as hell that will shoot a roost and hold 20 poeple!

I know it is big and i know it is not going to be a speed demon I a, hoping for loud as hell and shooting a HUGE roost.

Could be done, I suppose, but WHY??  Kinda goes against the grain on both what a jet boat is AND what a Poontoon boat is for....

As I say this, wasn't there a poontoon boat from the local "police" at the Tom Papp deal this year that tossed a pretty mean roost?

There are jet pontoon boats, Most are outboard jets but there are a few I/O jet's out there. There good for getting a party platform into the shallows but thats about it. They handle like a real barge, slow and gas guzzling but they work good for getting the Band to the floating party in the shallows.  ...Roy

I just went thru most my pics and can't find one of a jet pontoon, thought for sure I had some, I'll get ya some. There are a few I see regularly.

The Allegheny river here is about 6 feet over summers normal low, Kinzu lake above is max full and the dam is wide open with T-Storms forecasted for almost every day for the next week so the boat pics i take in the near future will prob be still tied to there docks but going down river to there doom over the next dam to be crumbled in a flooded rage, Tis the season. Does it every year but people (newbs) still put there docks and boats in early and leave.

And we all know how laws and regulations are passed because of a few stupid people so there's talks about tightening up laws/regulations against docks and river front land owners around here..Ok Rant on Pause for now,, I'll get ya some pics later.. Roy
