Welcome to SCJB  ;D

Not much luck saving a cable once it gets tight.  There should be a number on the outer sleeve of the cable that should guide you to the correct replacement.

yeah its not broken but its for sure not workin properly i can tell ya that much. i took the zirk fitting off to see if any nasty shit would come out of it..... sure enough its bin nasty all day  through some PB  and elevated it  to hope it would maby break some of that  gunk down and have gravity pull it through the cable  but im not having much luck iv spent 3 hours on it already and its geting to the time limit of get a new one

where would these numbers be located  .... exactly i have all the parts ill post some photos.  if it  you guys are willing to help me out any more i greatly appreciate it .... only think  keepin my 455 out of the water right now

thanks a bunch again

There should be a # on the cable housing.  If you don't find it, just measure the over all length and you can get a replacement cable from any of the boat parts suppliers.  Steering cable for a rack and pinion on a jet is pretty standard stuff.

I had that same rack n pinion on my Hondo Pantera T deck and that cable was not easy to find. They discontinued it from the factory and almost nobody had one. I found it by luck in Mississippi from some marine place as new old stock. Good luck I hope you have an easier time finding it then I did.
