Is it possible to connect my Tele to my LT , a found a google search that said its as easy as an "S" video cable ? anybody done this ? Tom

Yup, we watch netflix all the time off the LT on the big screen. Go to the store tell the kid what you want to do, get an "S" video cable AND a cable for sound, R&L. Get out the book for the LT, find out where the "OUT" ports are, prolly on the back, we have "IN"s on the side. Then select "INPUT" on the TV and you're off the the races. You may have to go into you "DISPLAY" and activate your "extended deasktop" we then slide the window off the screen on the LT and it comes up on the TV. Any Qs call me, or the Ole Lady @ 702 655-3940

Thanks Bro I got a "gank" of S vid cables and I'm guessing you mean the tradional yellow/red phone jack delios ?? but I'm clueless on th extended desk top Tom

The "s" video is round, the plug. There are other types of video, my stereo has like three different kinds, still havent figured them all out. Feel free to call the Ole lady if ya need to.

tom, give me a call tomorrow about this, its one of the things my company does.
I also have a dedicated computer networked that connects to the 61" tv in the living room.
there are a couple different ways to do it depending on the quality of picture that you want to see. also depends on the tv and pc/laptop that u have.
keep in mind that "svideo" is the easiest solution it also provides the worst possible picture!

Thanks Guys Thats appreciate the 411 , thats one of the reasons I love this place , I'm wanting to use my hp 9000 (has s vid out,not sure of the pin count) to my Family room 36" JVC tube type (has s vid in) should be a no brainer but apparently you may have to "dumb down" the soft ware ?? dunno , certainly not earth shattering , just a lot of good entertainment on the web ,thought it would be cool to see it "large" Tom

Tom, is it a HP dv9000 Laptop? Give me the actual model number and I will tell you what you need to do, TV model # to if you have it!

The LT is a HP dv 9000 and the TV is a JVC 36" tube type circa late 1990's (cant find the owners guide) :banghead: Thanks !

So if I got the right laptop model this is the side view of your laptop. In the picture you will see circled:
1. SVideo - Worst possible picture - Carries no audio
2. VGA - Same as your computer monitor, seperates Red / Green / Blue Colors. Also known as RGB 15 pin. Carries no audio
3. HDMI - Best possible picture(Same Cable you would use for High Def). Carries Video and Audio on same cable.
With the 1 and 2 option you will have to get a 3.5 to 3.5 Audio cable, available anywhere. (If your TV has a 3.5 jack. Same as headphone plug on an IPOD, MP3 player, etc). If your TV does not have that kind of input you can get a 3.5 to to component cable connector (Red, White, Yellow Plug. will only need Red and White which carries Left and Right Audio, Yellow is Video)
If your TV does not carry any of the connections needed there are devices that you can hook up to help this process but the can get pricey! $50 - Several hundred!
Doubtful that your TV will have an HDMI connection.
It looks confusing but its really not, you just need to compare the outputs on the laptops to the available inputs on the Tv and buy the neccesary cable and connectors. Questions....call me!

ya but thats easy to do, the new flat screen tvs are designed with all the new connections like dvi and hdmi.
i use my 61" DLP as a monitor because it specifically has a VGA connection and 3 HDMI ports.
its a lil more of a challenge to hok up the older CRT TV's to a computer because the tvs were made before the cable styles were.
but isnt it nice using a big ass tv as a monitor?

Tom, how'd that work out for you? I got a 22" flat panel for X-mas, running two monitors, can watch TV or FM on one, TV card installed, and surf on the other. We watch Netflix of the LT on the bigscreen downstairs.
