Southwind tunnel set up
« on: November 16, 2018, 11:16:58 AM »
So I'm new to the site. Trying to get my swtd ready for next summer. Having the motor done by the man down in San Diego. This boat was set up long ago and used to race a couple different classes. Figured there might be a couple swtd guys could school me on changing set ups and fine tuning the pump...hull cav plates...ride plate. Appreciate any help and can't wait to make a couple events. Maybe get my ass dragged by some of you guys. Had another profile but got locked out when I switched phones. Was a newbie on it tho.

Jake did ALOT of research and work to get his running the best it could.

I think Jake got a lot of info from Tim. He had a great running SWTD and knew a lot about them.

You can search their posts and maybe find some good info.

There is also a lot of info here as well https://www.performanceboats.com/jet-boats/.

Good luck.

Sorry it wasn’t more specific. They aren’t the fastest tunnel hull but they can be fast with some work and the right setup.
Got any pics of your boat? What kind of motor/hp are you looking at?

OK I remember your other posts and that boat. Hopefully it’s pretty dialed in. How different is the motor placement from where it was?

It'll be in the same spot. I figured it was setup for a nitrous motor when i got it so i didn't figure it should move.

This is the biggest jet boat set up for me yet. So i guess I'm the FNG which is cool cause i like learning. Figure the set up would be pretty good though to start?

Are you resetting the intake?  Is it a low-profile intake?

So think its a low profile intake dont know what you can see from this picture. I have been told by the previous owners (friends of mine) that it was set up perfectly by Tommy Papp. But as this is the biggest set up ive run im out of my league a little. My challenger ran 92. Grew up in a ridiculous sanger flat. My buddies got a blown alchohol Cp im probably going to have him look at it with me. But hes the kinda guy whos probably gonna want me to spend a ton of money. Sorry for being so long winded bro
