new to the jet boat world, i just bought a bbc eliminator jet boat, and noticed that there are on/off hose valves, and hoses everywhere, is this normal? is there a website that shows how this is to be routed and what the valves are for?

welcome aboard! yes there is google it. someone on this site may have a copy of it .

water comes from the pump bowl, which is pressurized. VERY pressurized. from there it goes to a gate valve (and hopefully a pressure regulator, which drops pressure down to a lower psi and dumps the excess overboard). the gate valve controls flow and thus engine temperature. from the gate it goes into the water inlets in the front of the engine. once it exits the engine at the thermostat housing on a boat with headers (judging by the pix you posted you have "over the transom headers)" one of the exits is split and sometimes goes to a valve or a RPM solenoid and runs to the header injectors where its then turned into steam and blown out the exhaust to cool the headers. the other dump from the thermostat goes out of the boat back into the water to warm up the fishies.

on your diagram it show coolant lines coming from the thermostat??? my engine has a block-off plate on the thermostat, is this normal?

how are you guys checking coolant pressure? can i tap my thermostat block-off plate and install a psi gauge there to monitor the coolant pressure? im told its to be 20-25 psi?

That's acceptable IMHO.
The gauge can be installed virtually anywhere, I would recommend a tee on the outlet of the manifold there that hose comes out. A good spot for ease of use... ;)
FWIW a 3/8" (inside diameter) overboard dump will squirt water about 3 feet straight out before it starts to arch down at 15 PSI.... :sly:
