Just got to reminiscing about my road racing days.....and started digging through looking for pictures. Here it is...my datsun. Sold to come up with downpayment for my house....had it out for two test days and it was downright dangerous(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv201%2FmachschnelGTI%2FDatsunbuild035.jpg&hash=61369476d030262621e18698751044567551208b)

I had 2 cars I miss from time to time...
I had a '02 VW GTI... 1.8turbo....had a 3" CB exhaust, intercooler, coilovers, sway/stress bars....thing was on rails. I took it out to buttonwillow and parump a few times. I loved the way that car handled.
Then I had a '79 Diesel Rabbit....1.5L 4 speed manual transmission. this thing was so slow, it was fun. It became a objective to keep my momentum up through turns because it only had 45hp. It was in excellent shape too. Wish I never sold that car.
I'll have to dig up pictures.
-

Hey Mark, what are you willing to bet on that?
Take it to PM's let's not fu@k this thread up!

My first car was a Limelight Green 70 GTX 440 auto w/ a 4.10 Dana. Moved up next to a 70 'Cuda with a stroker 400 and a pistol grip 4 speed. Thought I was hot shit at 19. At the same time my younger sister moves from a Cali styled Datsun p/u into a cherry 71 Camaro. Twin turbo'd 350, complete leather interior and Recaro's, even Porsche carpet. Previous owner wanted a wannabe Porsche and built this until he could find the "right" one. Now that car will make a young man smile, but it makes a punk ass, skinny blonde with a great job VERY popular.
-
my pops owned a shop and some how came into a 1973 vega with a blown engine, so we stuffed a 454 in it i was 15 and didnt even have a license yet. then traded it for a 1973 maverick fully tubbed. then got a 1972 torino cobra with a 429scj 4 speed. man i wish i still had that car. and the list goes on :'(
-
post some pics?

Brian you still got that motor? My gn buddy still ask after you hooked him up that one time...their gn motor rx7 conversion is turning some impressive numbers....pretty bad when it takes a 1000cc streetbike to finally pass us around 170mph

My pop bought my '64 Chevelle when I was 15 and it came home on flatbed trailers and milk crates...The first day I drove the car was the 3rd day of my senior year at HS... :screwy:
I bought my Blazer as a "runner but barely" and built it to be the best looking, hardest wheeling commuter car....
Miss both...
My pictures are limited because in the olden days we used film......I will try to get them scanned........ :-\

First car and still one of my favorites: 64 Falcon, 160 cu and three on the tree
Had a bunch of others but most fun was the 76 Datsun 710, lowered suspension kit and header, with side draft carb setup.
73 Vega
70 Satellite, built 383 and freaking scary fast
77 Mustang 2, an orange sleeper with a 302 and chrome leg pipes
84 Lincoln Mark 7-for the cool factor
Now driving a 05 Avalanche. Most useful truck I have had.
I counted up all my cars and they came to over thirty, plus 5 m/c, three sailboats and my current jet boat. Wish I had all the money I have spent on buying and fixing them.....

My favorite was my 1960 Chevy 1/2 ton l/b, 325 hp. 327, 4spd, on 33" BFG's, the truck was uglier than sin, and suprised a few mustangs , cameros and a vette .
Looked like a farm truck, My daughter was nearly born in that truck (delivered 12 min after we got to ER). Pulled my first boat with it, the old mans John Deere, been coast to coast (so cal to fla) Fried the points in San Antonio TX, lots of fond memories of it. Only a few old pics of it somewhere...

My all time favorite, has to be the 70' Stage One Buick, it would run with any of the 1970's muscle cars, sold it to get something to tow the boat and haul all the gear to the River.

Bad move all the way around IMHO. Weren't those cars built with over 500 ft/lbs STOCK? Sounds like the perfect boat hauler to me.
I used to pull a two rail dirt bike trailer with my 1970 GTX. Pulled that trailer so nice you wouldn't even notice it was back there. ;D
