Title: Dam cops!

Anyone know what the penalty is for running a float with no registration in California?

Expired reg or no reg?

Should be a fix it ticket from my understanding. Get current registration, show proof you have it, and get ticket signed off by either a law enforcement agency or the court. Usually there is a court fee, which in Orange County it is $25.

Should be same process as you do for a vehicle. Don't quote me on it though

Don't take this the wrong way, but it ain't the cops fault that someone didn't take care of the registration

I didn't get a ticket I was just curious. I have another float that has no title and I wanted to take it out to Test its equipment

I got stopped for no CF # when I took my boat out after I restored it. The cop said if he wanted to he could fine me 300 buck plus a fix it ticket. I had proof of registration so he let me off.

Like Jim said....depends on the cop....a non registered boat (not just lack of proof or no CF's, or expired) could get your boat impounded.

Well it has cf's and reg but it's just expired and not in my name and I have no title, guess it's just safe to get the paperwork all in line and not risk it

Yeah that's a definite impound. No way to prove its yours and not stolen.

Maybe I just look like a dirt bag, but everywhere I took my boat and have the zebra mussels inspection, they also checked my registration.  Some even inspected my safety equipment.

Should have towed it with this bad boy and they wouldn't have even looked twice

i've never ever had anyone do this. Let alone been pulled over in a boat til last weekend. Complete BS cop was just being a dick.

Wanted to see most but not all of my equipment ( i had everything on board).
