KEN it seems as though you have gotten lots of good advice here, but let me throw another one at you.  Dr. Michael Mosley has written a book that is available everywhere called The Fast Diet.  Based on a lot of solid science, this method of eating has huge popularity in England, and it sounds like it might fit into your lifestyle as easily as it did mine.  Basically you limit yourself to 2 nonconsecutive days out of every 5 to 600 calories a day.  The other days you eat normally.
The science says that humans began eating when there was food, and often not eating for periods because there was not food.  5-600 calories a day is not really that painful to do and more importantly it is easy to remember with no real meal planning or special foods to purchase.  I get through with a bunch of almonds and a few salads and chili from Wendy's when I am at work because it is handy but I 'm sure you could do the same thing wherever you are.
The book is small, I'm sure I paid less than $20 for it a couple years ago.  The science is solid, the weight loss will happen, and it is an easy lifestyle to adapt especially if you are busy or in situations where you don't have time to plan out and shop for a specific menu.  Just another route for you to consider that others have found helpful.

Damn, damn, damn, thanks for all the advice and info, and links. I'm on the wife's iPad, so when I get to an "actual" computer, I'll print everything out and start on my road to better health. Was a rough day at the hospital as Bella is on quarantine, and just now got to say goodnight to her, and now going to head home for a bit of sleep before work.

Trying to get "back" into shape.... New
« Reply #27 on: June 26, 2014, 08:51:52 AM »
I was almost 295lbs and at 5'11" thst put me on the fat as a hog description.... couldn't run a hundred yards to save my life.  stress is funny and people react to it differently ... for me..... I eat.

I've lost 30 lbs in 5 months..... no diet, no super exercise
 plan.

I eat the same foods ( except I cut out ice cream by the bowl b4 I'd go to bed)
and have just cut down the amount I eat. it was hard.  still a struggle, but getting the weight off is important to me
try different things..... a combination of suggestions I've read here could be the answer for you. there is no SET way to  do it..... try something and give it a chance to see if it will work, then modify, go another direction. The
gym may work for some.... just walking.... bicycle etc. find what works for you.and good luck!!!

I always wanted to be somebody...

I guess I should have been more specific.
