Dream or Nightmare?
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:27:07 PM »
Towards the end of last year I bought the daycruiser of  my dreams ... I hope. For over seven years I have been looking for the biggest jet powered daycruiser I could find. I wanted good looks in a well maintained boat for not much money. So far the only drawback to what I found is a 455 Olds and a butt-ugly brown interior from the 70's. She is a 1974 Wreidt 23'6" that has been owned for about a decade by a marine detailer in LHC. I can find out very little about this boat and the company that made it. I think they are still in business somewhere in Texas, but I don't think they manufacture anymore. Can anyone tell me what to expect or look out for with my new ride. So far I have only seen one other like it and it turned up the very first time I took my boat out. Roost on

If it has been sittin on a trailer for ten years , you might wanna take a look at the bottom . I've seen boats that have sat on trailers for a long time and have huge amounts of hook in them . I was told not to buy a goreous hallet cuz all it would do is plow water and be slow as mollassess on a cold day goin up hill ! The bottom is the first thing I look at .

What kind of pump is in it ? Some pumps are more effective at moving an enormous boat . I think sleekcraft used to make a bad ass 23'er-ish cruiser and I never heard anyone complain about theirs . It is a jet and at almost 24 feet , that thing is huge so I wouldnt expect a ton of excitment when you hit the gas.

As for uphostery in a boat from the 70's ......well I think yellow and brown where your only options then . If you dont like it . Open your wallet ..... WIDE . I'm curious to see what this thing looks like . hint hint . cough cough . nudge nudge . You know what I mean .

No worries - not much trailer time. It seemed to be a floating advertisement for his detailing biz, Arizona Reflections. It has a Berkley but I hav no idea which impeller. After this summer that is the first thing I am going to look into is building the pump right. I want a lot more power out of the hole cuz I want to ski behind her and I am a big guy. I know I shouldnt have said that around here ooops. Tossing around lots of ideas for the motor during the winter. I want to ski now as this boat leaves an un-freaking believable flat wake for its size. Flatter than my 18ft Horizon even. However the shag carpet under the bow is coming out much sooner. Why would anyone put shag carpet anywhere on a boat? Jeez.  Real comfy up there for uh, umm, sleeping. Yeah that's it sleeping.

May god have mercy on your soul if you ever decide to remove the shag from that hull.  ;D

There's lots of it. If you have any resto projects going on I would gladly send some your way. It won't show beer stains but it is sure to get people to notice your boat.

Ya i have a 74 sleekcraft 23ft and i love the thing. It has a 455 with a american turbine energizer kit and it scoots pretty good for a large boat. It sees the water when it gets to rough for the 18ft hawiian.

See what I'm sayin. I wonder if the sleek and the wreidt have anything in common . Where are the pros when you need them .

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the wreidt has a AA impellor in it too. Come on brutha . Dont be stingy with the picture and what color is the shag.

If you looked under the phone in your avatar I'm guessing that'd be bout the same color as the rug. I'm sure it looks better on her than in my boat .  I'm not real good w/ this computer stuff but I might be able to email them to you if you wouldn't mind posting em for me. But I'm not doing nuthin more tonight, gotta work tomorrow. Wish I was at the river bout now.
