unless you are running a crazy curve, boost, and need all that control etc. HEI is fine. All new parts and a great price. Accel makes a good HEI for the price. Most put out a good amount of voltage and work very well.

Go here http://www.pertronix.com/ and on the left side of the page click "products", near the left on the top click "Ignitor ignition" and you'll see and be able to read about the Ignitor ignition. I've used several on several different vehicles and they have never failed me.

The HEI is probably the best non-racing distributor ever made. The HEI puts out more voltage than many aftermarket "high performance" disrtibutor/coil combinations. They are easy to work on, and the easiest ignition system to wire out of ALL ignition systems (one wire to make the engine get spark!). They will not clear a tunnel ram or blower. Excellant choice for most non-racing applications, my .02 (which has recently been downgraded to an .01 ;D )

That new HEI Bluenun posted is probably cheaper than the Ignitor Igniton I posted! I would buy a new HEI before I switched a points type ignition to an Ignitor Ignition!!
-
prolly cheaper then a dwell meter too........
Or jus set your points really good with a feeler gauge and you'll be alright.
-
My high school shop class teacher told me to set my points with a standard issue matchbook (the kind that flips open to reveal ? 20 matches) and I'll be damned if that didn't get the dwell dead on. :o ??? ;D
-
that match book trick works good if your 16-18 years old & working on a vw. lets get into the now, f@!$ points. loose that problem. $100 bucks will get you into 1978 & eliminate future problems with over/under gapped points. it may seam simple but remember less adjusting less problems, & more hallin ass !!!!!! O0

... $100 bucks will get you into 1978...
