I took the Miller out today, maiden voyage. ;D I must have done at least one thing right because the boat performed near flawlessly!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
The only problem I ran into was that the port side gas tank has some sort of problem with keeping up with the engines fuel demands. Gives me a reason to ditch the lame fuel switch I put on it and get a new one. The switch I got allows only one tank to be used at a time, I want it to drain both at the same time anyway soooo. That was the only problem it had.
Watching my G/F trying to steer it at near idle was hillarious, "the damn thing isn't turning!". ;D "It's a jet boat baby!" was my reply. ;D
As far as how fast it is I have no idea. I don't own a GPS and the speedo that it has on it (water pick-up tube type) doesn't work, there's no way the top speed was around 23! LOL. I guessed the family outboard powered boat to be around 20 or 25 top speed and it turned out to be 39, so with that in mind the Miller should go around 85 or 90. LMFAO ;D
I have a lot more details to do to the boat but it is river ready!!

BTW, I stopped and was looking at some jet boats, these two guys come over to my boat and start drooling (figuratively) all over the carb's scoop. One of them just paid a shop $450 to make one exactly like mine and a friend's of his (same scoop). Told me some history about the scoop and said it was real popular back in the day of circle jets.
Mine came off of the Wild Raspberry of course, Brad's circle race boat.
Now I'm contemplating (AGAIN) about just keeping the scoop for myself. ;)

I had a scoop like that back in the day that i got from Roger Weiman. The info you got was correct about it's history. I stuck mine on our race boat at Advantage back in the 80's. Boat went 118 and change and still holds the record set back then. Not bad for a single carbed SBC.
By the way, you got your scoop on backwards, it was meant to keep water outa the carb in races, not scoop it in. lol ;)

By the end of the day that this picture was snapped, the boat was history, flipped in the first turn of the Parker 9 hour enduro, or maybe 7 hour back then. I did get my scoop back though 5 days later when we found the boat, only to sell it with my dads boat after he died. Should have kept the the boat and the scoop. Hind site.........

No, I just hold the camera steadier than she does. I had to erase allmost every picture she took. ;D But she tried and never complained... well there was that time when I hit a huge wake and she got most of the wake on her... she was saying something there but I couldn't hear her... she must not have been complaining since I couldn't hear her! ;D
I wonder how good she is with a nail gun ???

I bought the scoop back from the buyer of the High Life. ;D I thought the High Life would get more thereby making it "worth it" to me to sell the scoop with the boat. It didn't therefore it isn't, errr...
What brand, size, and type of hull is that old race boat Old Rigger?
