Hey Y'alls... heading out to El Cap, probably Sunday. Is anyone else going to be out there? Last year after seeing the line at San Vin I went to El Cap and got on without a problem -do you think it's going to fill this year?
Thanks
oh yeah... I'll be in this:

El Cap is down in our part of town. About 15 minutes and we are there. I prefer El Cap to San V because you can pretty much always get on the water.
-
Just as Klesh says... Both are east of San Diego. From the OC area maybe an hour and a half or so when towing? Small city reservoirs but they are clean (unlike Elsinore) and you can drink boat sodas (just don't drive.) Nice scenery and off the beaten path a bit. For SD it fits the bill nicely -no 5 or 6 hour drive to Havasu/Parker.
-
looks like a relaxing put...gotta ck the funds for the weekend, probably 2hr drive for me , and you all said to get there before 10am to get in right?......

Ya that would be a short tow coming from irvine I will have to look into that place for sure. Thanks
-
I lived right on Willow Rd. down the street from San V and El Cap. Those lakes are ok for like a day deal or a few hours, but if you want to have a real boating weekend then go to Havasu or Mohave, or the river. But thanks to Gas Prices that's making ir harder and harder

The whole get there befor 10am thing is just on sundays. The people at el cap told me they are closing down san v a lot earlier than expected due to those damn muscles! So now el cap is gonna get crowded quick.
-
ewwww i dont like those sticky things......are they having that problem down there too? w/ the zebra muscles?
-
One lake already got them and the other lake dosent want to get them so they are closing down the one that already has them.
-
its gotta be those damn bass boats.....
-
anything else i should know, about elcap?....is there gas close or should i get it up here, food store or something like that for snacks and lunch stuff off the freeway....and i saw a map, which area do you guys hang out at so i can cruise there.....u going to go beerjet?....and are u bringing your girls, ill bring mine too...they can play on the beach maybe?
-
You'll want to get all your gas/food/snacks before you turn onto El Monte, there aren't any concessions at the lake . Once your on El Monte you drive through BFE and end up at the lake ($5 boat + $5 adults/$2.50 kids). The reservoir is pretty straight forward... a place to hang out next the the ramp or you can go down the "North Arm" -is easy to find anyone out there. I'm usually up the Arm on the east side, there are beaches and the SS Relief is nearby. The lake does allow lake lice but they are limited to their own area.
-
There is a 7-11 on the corner you turn on to go to the lake. And the 7-11 has a gas station , and there is a taco shop in the same parking lot.

My personal favorite aspect of El Cap.

Decent food there too.

I will be there on Sunday :D Planning to get there before 10. Only problem I have had since my rebuild is the "heater outlet" rubber plug cracked and blew off...again... Legal Chem remembers last time that happened :o But this time I didn't panic and got it beached and fixed without incident. I am bringing a coleman grill for dogs/polish sausages so let me know if anyone wants me to bring extras O0 Hope to see a lot of you guys out there.
-
I'm going sunday. Who's still going?
-
oh ya, I'm bring klesh too. O0
-
Crap-o-la. I start this thread and can't make it.... FYI, don't do any concrete work near the areas where you NEED to pull your boat out from. What a dumb arse! I'm going to try and see if I can trailer around it... but I may be sh!t up creek (with a boat)
-
I'll be there ;D
-
oh ya, I'm bring klesh too. O0
Ofcourse he's bringing me...who else pulls him and the boat in and out of the water. ;D
-
It should be set up enough by tomorrow morning to pull a boat over >:D With all this heat helping the curing process.
-
Finally... gonna make it out (better lake than never, ::) ) Does anyone know if I'll be able to get on????? Is it maxed out yet? Hopefully be there ~2:30. thanks
-
legal C, I didn't see you there. They let people on all day long.
-
Just let me tell you "THE CHAZ" know how to burn some gas! It was good to see a family having funny with their boat. His boat was running almost all day long.
-
Chaz, take those sticks out! ;D Is the barQ in the trash can? hahaha Don't let him start a fire for you. >:D
-
Now that's a FIRE
Roll Charlie around a little bit he'll be alright O0
Yeah BBQ is in the trash :P Bringing the coleman today if anyone is going.

What about the sticks? hahaha
-
Well... I only had 1 vacuum plug and could not come up with a plug that size so I had to leave 1 stick in it >:D Ran good all day but I have an oil leak at the front of the intake manifold >:( I have one more day trip planned in 2 weeks and I think I may call it a season. Need to replace my floor, and fix the oil leak...

I did make it out... but to San V. I talked to some guys on the way out there and I was told it was raining at El Cap, was it? We could see some raining and a little lightening off in the distance, but it never hit us.
-
lucky guys, it was blazing hot here in the upper o.c......

It did rain for a little while. No lightening. Once the rain stopped the sun came back out. We didn't leave till after 7pm.
-
I had fun driving in the rain O0
Got a little painful at the higher speeds though.
-
I went through some pics from Sunday... this is what it looked like at San V ~6:00 when it started to clear up. I though it came out pretty cool being it was shadowed out.
