liberty /hornet bottom

Start of by saying  thanks for identifying  the bottom  of my hull beerjet,now i can ask more questions. The bottom  of my boat is a splash of a liberty /hornet hull with a different  top .i would  like to  get some opinions  on a full pump set back and motor placement .this is not a race boat ,just want a fun river runner that can take some power.

Well, post some pictures of what you have, or link to the thread of the discussion of your bottom. From my personal experience, Libertys like to ride flat and wet. Not high and dry. Ralph had a setback in his hornet and I am not sure if he liked it. I would suggest leaving the pump where it is. Put some power to it first, then go from there.

Yep. .. Set back normally is reserved for light and quick. Not really for wider/longer boats. Power, shoe and plate will give you more than a set back.

I would think you would lose handling with a setback.

Ill try and Get better pictures of the bottom .im asking about the set back because  im doing a panther to berkley swap and already  have the old hole glassed in .

I would not set it back in that hull. Stock location with a flat cut shoe about 3/8" down and a ride plate with some "up" adjust-ability.

I could be FOS though.

What are your intentions with it?

I want a fun river  boat . I grew up at lost lake and always enjoyed and wanted to do the Saturday  night  races.  So i want a family  boat that can go  out and make a few fast passes somewhere around 75 mph maybe  a little  over.i enjoy watching but not  really into doing circles  myself.

Put the pump in the stock location. Don't waste your money on a droop. Just put a diverter on it.

Also, no high speed turns until you really get a feel for the boat. Not trying to scare you, but another guy here on this site took his liberty out and yanked the wheel at a decent speed and spun it like a top.

Yeah brad i was reading  that and laughing  at all of you trying  to convince  him to sell it.i am thinking of a splash guard  would that help any in case of an accident?

the aluminum block on the rub rail on the center of the transom.....is there any markings on it? looks like a Hawaiian to me. They shared the same bottom as the hornet and liberty.

Yeah the boat is a 1978 ranger.it has ranger on the  rub rail block it used to have a ranger emblem on the dash and ranger on the throttle peddle .and the title  is ranger. But i guess they used someone's  mold.

I'm that guy spun it right around in my defense got used to a heavy ass commander  take a lap or too to get use too here a couple of pics of my pump set up on my elimintor liberty
