Title: Elsinore death
Post by: flytime on August 06, 2008, 10:27:08 PM
Anybody else hear about this? A 9-year-old boy dies from amoebic parasite from swimming in Lake Elsinore. A couple years ago my daughter got meningitis(sp) from swimming in Lake Elsinore. I knew there was something I didn’t like about that place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naegleria_fowleri

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the amoeba killed 23 people between 1995 and 2004.

There was 2 cases in 2005 and 6 cases in 2008. This is the first case reported in the US in 2008

that thing is only in lakes  and also in the little fingers of  the river where the sedamint dont get stirred up so if you stay in the main part of the river youll be okey  and i still wont go to hellsinore or perris dont like cleaning poop off the boat at the end of the day

You got in that water? Gross. When launching there, I climb on the boat through the trailer so my feet don't have to touch that nasty water. A few years ago I remember being on the beach and seeing a dead fish washed up on the shore. The only good thing about "Smell-some-more" is the no speed limit center section. I know they said its cleaned up, but IMO its still dirtier than a Tijuana Crack whore.

There are also parasites in Lake Ming. Bird parasites. There are signs warning against swimming there. Each body of water has its good points, and not so good points. I know the Pacific Northwest has some of the most beautiful water in the world. Crystal clear, no odor, plenty of fish.........BUT OH SO COLD, Burrrrr. As boaters we have to use the water available to us. Just be careful with the little ones on the crew. Kids love water, but please be careful..........Ray
