Title: engine wont turn
Post by: countryboyaustin on July 28, 2009, 12:11:32 PM
Went out the other day and when it came time to leave it wouldn't turn over. Melted my battery cable. I have some guessses like maybe water got in the exhaust? what happens when a starter goes bad? Does it sound like its draggin? Wondering if I have water on top of the pistons and it cant compress? Any ideas before I start tearing stuff up?

Pull the spark plugs and try again.

tap the starter solinoid (sp) the starter could be stuck and to much current was passing thru your battery cable and that couls have melted it.

but more importantly do as CrewChief says and pull the plugs.

Well i gave in and started pulling her apart. Logs off and  as soon as I touched the positive lead connecting to the solenoid the plastic cap on the solenoid broke and the post fell out in my hand. Obviously from looking at it that has been loose for a while and causing my intermitent starting issues as well as likely running down my batteries! I do not look forward to installing the new starter! My big hands just dont fit down there!
