Gonna go look at a new boat to buy, it has a golden eagle pump? Good? Bad?

The pumps not the best but you can make it a good pump with the aggressor energizer kit , pretty boat and its got a great motor in it FORD

Boat does 73, a lot better than my 53! Hah pump was just built last year

Its not always about mph but quality you can't do anything with that pump with out dumping a lot of money in it

I would find 73 a long stretch of some ones imagination.
I have a boat with a GE YJ pump that now has an energizer and place diverter. Before was a 45 mph boat. Now, I HAVE tapped 60+ with it with the Energizer on it.
Unless they're giving the boat away....keep walking...IMHO.......

Your current boat is better and if he's telling you that mph,his speedo pick up is in front of the jet nozzle.
Edit: just thought about it but that's the second challenger with a jacuzzi ge pump that I have heard of that claims 70s

He used a GPS, I'm not worried about 73, anything is gonna be faster than my float. But is this pump reliable? It was just rebuilt with new impeller. And is there a jet o vater made that fits?

His gps is a pos. no diverter for it however the ge pump in stock form has a manual nozzle adjustment via screwdriver. There's also a hydraulic set up that replaces that screwdriver adjustment, but good luck finding one

Nah....not really. My last Sleek only sat about 4-5" out of the water. Had a splashguard added to it and twin bilge pumps, which I found out why in short order.....Could easily swap yourself real quick if you weren't paying attention...Quick turns, "donuts", wheelies, etc ya just don't try it until you know the boat well.
And the pump is fine, from a reliability standpoint. It's just different. The YJ is an axial flow pump vs the mixed flow of the WJ or the Berk. Generally, they work quite well in larger boats, like 21-24'. Hard to explain the difference, really, but it's all in the impeller design. The YJ impy looks more or less like a fan blade where the others are much more complex than that, and one moves water, the other actually pressurizes it. The other thing about the Golden Eagle is it's an insert style pump, meaning the hull is molded specifically to accept it, and the pump has no traditional intake bolted to the bottom of the hull, but rather the intake and suction housing are one and the same epoxied to the hull and held with a handful of bolts.
This is actually an advantage, in this case, because normally switching over to a Berk style pump from a Jacuzzi requires a LOT of fiberglass work since the Jacuzzi intake is so different than a Berk. But in this case, you could do a "set back" Berk install on it relatively easily with not much more than a sawzall and some skill with it. ;)

Not a fast pump but a good reliable pump, easy maint a couple of grease zerks thats it. my 16 ft taps out at 60 mph with .016 clearence on impellar.

Ok sweet, ya this pump was built by Greg shoemaker (gs marine) I guess he made it a fast pump. Might go look at it today
