Title: F@$%King kids
Post by: Squirrel Master on September 26, 2012, 08:07:27 PM
So i got my first one star yelp rating today for trying to stop an 18 year old college student for tattooing her finger. i might have been frank with her but tried to explain i didnt want to be the reason her life might change. here is what she said. :screwy:
but the tattoo artist Gary proceeded to insult and make fun of what I wanted to get done. He called me a "stupid fucking teenager" and warned that I was making a mistake. I got it anyway. Like I said, the tattoo was fine, but I could have done without the poor customer service and rude attitude. Not going back, definitely wasn't worth $60
didnt call her a stupid teenager just said u young people today getting tattooed on ur hands without one other visable tattoo are fuckin stupid and if u were my sister id send u home  :banghead: thats what i get for trying to stress how much tats can effect hiw ur looked at

So....yer cool with taking kid (under 18, or this post wouldn't be here and you wouldn't have to show up to get it done)...but you're pissed off because the artist tried to talk the kid out of it?  Someone walks into my shop looking for a job with tattoed fingers...nope, sorry, we're professionals here...when I've got a 20 million dollar a year client walking through checking out the operation and sees some dipshit with inked up fingers.   Yeah, that's not gonna end well.  .... personality needs to come from the inside...if you have to make your ink visible to everyone to make you feel better and yer grown up...fine.....if you're a stupid kid,, the person encouraging it is a tool

Good job dude....instead of mentoring the youngun' and raising them as a productive member of society,  you
helped hem get a tat,  you've eliminated half of their job market while helping them "express" themselves.

FYI, I have no tattoes and no desire to get any.  Not talking shit to people that have them, but getting them before your brain has developed enough to understand why not to get them in certain places seems detrimental to life in the future.

Pat.... Pretty sure the OP is the Tattoo artist, and was discourraging(sp) said young kid from getting the Tattoo in the first place. At least that is what I got from it.

I see this whole thing different-
Its all about customer service, and ONLY customer service. Always do what the customer wants, as a business owner myself, the customer is always right, whether I think they wrong or right is irrelevent, they are payin the bill. I have advised the client in one way or another, and even argued with an engineer or 2, but a bad attitude gets you nowhere in business.

As far as the finger tats, I wouldn't do it myself, (get them), but to each there own.
These kids make chioces, not all are good choices...

Everything you do builds your reputation, good and bad. If a parent signed a consent form so their 16 year old could get tattooed would that be right? I think Gary did the right thing, he recommended they not do this and when they insisted he helped them out.

As for this moron getting their feelings hurt by some foul language in a tattoo shop maybe they shouldn't be getting a tattoo. I have seen and heard things in local shops that would make some bikers blush. This idiot should get over theirself.

i think as a professional you should have every right to refuse work that you do not want to do.  like any artist your work is on a canvas for everyone to see and would you want your work to be someone elses regret?

perhaps next time just refuse the job, skip the life lesson.  let them figure it out on their own.  stupid people will be stupid. you cant change the world.

i agree with all u dudes in certain ways there is so many sides to the fence if i refuse she still give me a bad rating goes somewhere else(maybe a house or shop) gets hepatitus or shit tat2 or a good tat but i lose her and her friends business  or i do what i tried which is explain all the downside logically then huff n puff and curse a bit so it discourages her and she still says i want it so i did my job well and she has to live with it not me. people ask me what do u think i should get o r where to get it and i tell em Its not my job to pick or tell u where its my job to do what u ask well. i try to make sure im the best tattooer on them and thats all i can do. in the 90s i use to tell people to haul ass when i thought something was wrong or stupid. just these days there is no more respect its all $$$ and im an old skool dude caught in the middle.Fuk it drink a

Why would any tattoo artist with a long history of good work, worry about a rating on Yelp?
No disrespect, but it is a real 'tard that picks out a guy to do work on them by consulting Yelp.   Don't sweat it, you did the right thing and they didn't.

your mouth and your opinion is what killed you, i would have given the bad rating too. if you are going to talk shit and use foul language towards your customers then i would think your reputation will suffer in the future :-\
