well i took the familly and neibors out today in the new boat, and its still slow :-[ i just have to get used to the fact that it's the familly boat not the race boat. i cruised around all day at about 35mph and ejoyed the hell out of myself. these pics tell the hole story
right of the trailer, after the first lap

How do you know the pump is cavitating?
What brand and model of pump is in it?
Thanks!

I know what you mean about getting used to how slow it is . When I took my saguaro out for the first time it was a plow and took an eternity to get on plane . Once I went through the pump . WOW ! What a diffence . It'll definatly have that "Hot Rod" feel . Just dont make it faster than mine OK  ;)

Nothing like seein the family with a smile on there faces . Looks like I'm gonna be boatless until about mid week too  :-\, hopefully. Great job Ralph and the boat looks great .

What kind of ballpark price can I expect to pay to have a Berkley pump gone thru?  It works I just suspect it is fairly worn out. I don't have a problem spending money on good parts but it is motivating a 23ftdaycruiser w/ a 455 not a blown flatty.

I asked Joe at JP Marine for "a ballpark guesstimate on a Berkeley pump rebuild without having any idea of what's inside?" and he said $300.

That's carrying the pump in BTW.

rebuild kit is around $280 to $300 impeller alum $275 labor $300 and if you want anything extra they charge by the hour. it cost me $850 for mine. thecraz

Hmmm, by reading the post below, did Joe qoute me labor only?  ???

Did you carry the pump in or take the whole boat in? Either way, if the rebuild kit is $280 - $300...

500 for labor is about rite all depends on what you want and trust me there are a lot of things you can do to a pump.
