Title: Finally got a fuel efficient vehicle
Post by: SoCalPSD on May 16, 2015, 12:26:44 PM
So with gas back at 4 bucks a gallon and my daughter back in softball i decided i needed to be a responsibe adult for once and get a normal reliable vehicle and somethig that got better mileage than the K5. So after some searching and lookin at about 15 trucks i decided to pull the trigger. Picked up a 2000 tacoma with 162k. 4cyl, 5 speed, a/c that works, powersteering, and thats about as far as the luxuries go. Anndddddd weeeelllllllll it lays frame. Got a few loose ends i need to button up like reworking the bedsides and fenderwells and a few other things but for the most part its a solid foundation and a good running truck.

My 1996 was lifted with 31s and stock gears and got 24 mph so I would think that one with little tires would do a lot better than that.is that silverado getting 24mph in the city or is that on the high way at 65?

You can drive 65 in the city. Just don't get caught.

It averages about 18, get 24 on trips.

My 94 4Runner likes gas. Idk.

i know an excellent body man/painter....who can fix up your besides.  hes fair in his pricing...much less than dealer.  maaco, one day paint...etc...all the production shops....may beat his price but do not come close to results.  he will need to see your truck before quoting.  best thing is....white paint is the cheapest paint....cheapest as in price.  hit me up if youre interested.  562.644.1168

What model siverado does your dad have? My 4wd 2500hd crew cab 6.0l gets 9 city/12.5 highway(empty or pulling the boat).
I'm thinking of doing a flex fuel conversion after seeing a documentary called "Pump". Check out the link. It's not CA smog legal so I'll have to pull it off every two years.
