Just bought my first boat. 1982 Eliminator. 454 BBC, Berkeley jet. Looking forward to getting it on the water real soon.

No I picked it up from a guy in Huntington Beach. Taking it out tomorrow morning for the first time!

Welcome aboard, have you driven a jet before? I'm guessing not since this is a first boat thread, remember you have to apply power to turn the boat. Hopefully you have an experienced driver with you to show you some ropes, they can be tricky in crowded places and also when you're going 70 mph at some rocks :)

Nope, never driven a boat before. Got an uncle that is going out with me in the morning to show me the ropes.

The saying "when in doubt, throttle out" needs to be taped to the center of the steering wheel for the first couple outings.  After that you will realize how true it is.

Its just a natural instinct to some of us. works well when riding quads at the dunes also.
