new to board intro
« on: August 01, 2016, 10:46:02 AM »
Hello,

I'm new to the forum as you can tell by the title. I figured Id introduce myself, not sure exactly where this should go however it is mostly non boat related and the wake zone seemed appropriate. I do not currently own a jet boat however I am hoping to have one with in the next year or so. I'm an Oldsmobile enthusiast so a 455 motor in a boat would be sweet. I have used this forum for info on 455's before when I first got into Oldsmobiles about 3 years ago but was a lurker only as I did not at the time have any plans on purchasing a boat.

about me.
Married, 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat,
beer
beer gut.
Current location Wichita KS from Boston MA

Current project is a 1969 Delta 88 with a 455. this will be my tow vehicle for the boat so it needs to be reliable and decently running before I make my boat purchase. The P/O had their way with it and I wish I had known the "repairs" they made to the body before purchasing but it is what it is. So far the motor Is mostly stock however there are a few small modifications (looking for a tunnel ram+other parts) headers (custom...ugly but they work) electric water pump, electric power steering pump, electric fans aluminum radiator low mount alternator jeep grand cherokee steering box and a rear mount battery. finishing up the wiring on the electric parts today actually. need to do a bit more before I would feel comfortable towing a boat but plan is to move to a fuel cell and put the hitch threw the license plate where the filler caps stock location is with some new shocks and progressive towing package springs in the rear plus some gears.

sorry for rambling and I look forward to enjoying the forum and learning what I can and helping where I can.

Thank you.
Sean

Welcome to SCJB  ;D

I always thought it would be cool to have a big station wagon as a tow vehicle for the boat, but I'm thinking the tunnel ram might be a bad idea for a tow vehicle.  I'd suggest saving the tunnel ram for the boat and get an Edlebrock Performer for the car.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
