Headers

I have a set of Bassett wet headers, if I coat them, will they get discolored? My question is, when I get them coated, do you run the headers dry? And, will they stay clean looking, with no dis-coloration? Any advice would be much appreciated, as I am anal about my chrome not looking good...If anybody has any good coating compaines that you would recommend, please let me know. Thanks.

yo...with most ceramic coatings, u can run them wet or dry...the gloss on the coating will probably fade away w/out water injection. some good places to go is EMBEE, in santa ana, and there's this place called jet hot, out in phoenix i think? we've all heard great things about them...u can ship them and they'll ship them back...hope this helps!

thanks man.......i see all these pictures of folks boats and it look like they have never been fired up because their headers have no dis-coleration what-so-ever....and thats what i am lookin for.

Try Jet Hot, here in town (Tempe, I beleive).

As far as wet or not? Depends on what you can get away with where you run. Decibel regulations pretty much kill dry headers without 4 foot mufflers hanging off them. Should be a fine finish, but will lose some shine dry, I should think.

The original Chrome should be fine, and stay chrome and shiney from the water injection ports on if everything is working properly. (gonna blue at the heads, 'tis the way it is)

Look at mine, 1 loose hose clamp and I blued the hell outta them! Kinda matches the engine now, "Blue Away" is working, need to spend som more time buffing with it to see if it'll fix that or not. Kinda like them the way they are, tho, actually. Gives the look of Horsepower!

thanks bro......i polish the shit out of the chrome even if it run it for 5 minutes. and i think i have my water injectionm dialed in pretty good. Just like the clean non-dis-colerashion look. by the way, very nice boat u have there and love the name. best wished and have fun with the build!!!!

Josh HPC wont discolor (as said) and it looks bitchen too heres my new headers ,the "juice" these guys use just kkeps gewtting better !

Beach towels, ice chests, plastic tool boxes, flip flops, ignition wires, bilge pump hoses, timing light pickups, duffle bags, ski flags, knee boards, bugs, oil...LOL

Just say you've seen it happen to other peoples boats (after you clean the melted plastic off your headers). That's what I do.

I have an acquaintance that works there, I called him yesterday, he can do them for $310 plus shipping each way. Let me know when you're ready and I'll hook you up, they're getting a healthy amount of the hardware on the Hallett at the end of the season, maybe he'll cut us a volume discount?

I was spodabe going, then my 89MPH in a 55 zone came due, $635

, momma bought some new clothes for work and whatnot, $600

Hey Skip, we are in the same boat so to speak, my wifes car was calling my name, all said and done, new windsheild $170, new tires $340, Dent Doctor dent removal $140, Lug locks $40 and I put a new fuel pump in the motorhome generator $95, and did a service on my F250 at the tune of $180 and I did the work myself, when does it all stop?

Sorry for the jack, I had Jet Hot do the race headers several years ago, they are still running them and they look pretty good, they have run wet and dry. I think the trick is to keep them clean, we were using a Martin Senior clay kit to wipe them down when they get grungy looking...

Heading to Pep boys and Autozone here in a few minutes, RJ thinks I hate him, lol. He's got the job of trying to polish the aluminum and the headers on the moo boat today, lol. He's pissed!

Gonna try and find those products, if not, well, then on-line I guess, lol.

Nev R Dull works good
So does Mother's mag & aluminium polish
get him some terry towels and some polishing cloths, Blitz or maybe Flitz metal polish works great
