My friend bought a boat, be we can't figure out where the engine mounts are supposed to go.   ???

It's supposed ta' clamp on the back...DUH! :)

the stringers are not there, it looks from your pic that they were taken out

oh...yah..that hull requires the bolts to penetrate the SIDE of the tunnel. It will drop right in.You may have to modify the motor mounts. O0
