I'm wondering what will happen to to Engines and parts if GM files... Even the Ford guys should be worried. If it's decided that all V-8 aftermarket or crate engines are bad for business in order for GM to survive will all manufacturers follow? Can't imagine what costs will do if you're forced to build a new motor using Dart or World blocks, cranks, heads, have to use billet cams. Then there is oil and fuel pumps, timing chains, even spark plugs. Sounds like a new basic engine for a ski boat could be a $25-$30k race motor. No one will have boats anymore even if the economy picks up. I guess we could use a CAT diesel.

I have seen some pretty bad ass Mazda Rotory Turbo powered jet boats!

can always get a whacker ;D

im going to call wrong...i would think opposite where the aftermarket will kick in on gm stuff and be selling it...they will be able to make a ton...idk about you but i can find blocks and such n so on all day long....ford not so much but it is still there...why do you think everyone buys aftermarket now? its cheaper then a gm product and most times better...

Seen the price of a merc 300 lately? :o :o :o

Used stuff will be out there a while even if GM tanks, but new boats can't be sold with used stuff. The market won't put up with it. And as far as whackers go, Merc is amost out of business allready. The ski/river maket won't be the only ones killed. the fishing boat market thats in the 20-35 foot range will be stuck with the likes of Volvo (if they stay in business) or smaller diesels. We better all hope that NASCAR keeps GM Performance in business. I can't think of anyone with the coin to buy up GMP when GM tries to spin it off.

I bought 150 shares of GM stock on friday for 220.00, a few years ago that would have cost nine grand. That could be the best deal they've got going or I might have just thrown some money away. I've got time, so i'll take a chance.
