The first is I polished from the transom back and was wondering if anyone has ever powdercoat clear on aluminum or magnesium or a good clearcoat I can use. The powercoat guy i talked to said he doesnt know if it will stick. Or do I have to polish it every year. Next is has anyone used duplicolor metalcast spray for an oxidation look. I just think it could look cool and have some protection. I was thinking purple. The third is the carpet on the bunks are bad and since the engine is out I thought it is time to replace them because its light with no motor but I don't know the best way for the boat. I have a cherry picker and can borrow another but is that that safe. I don't want to drop the boat or Crack it. It's in the garage and i don't have the room to make something to lift it. Can I lift it with two pickers enough to get the wood out. Thanks and I hope you guys can help me out.

Well.....why spray anything on that beautiful polished aluminum. If your powder coat guy says it probably won't work, then it probably won't. Is it really too much to ask to repolish that aluminum once a year? And I don't know anything at all about that rattle can finish you're after, if that's what it is.

And as far as your trainers concern, take your boat to the river or lake, Park it someplace close where you can watch it, then work on your trailer with the material that you brought with you. Then go enjoy the rest of the day in your pretty polished pump boat..

I think their is some stuff called shark hide? Seems to be pretty good stuff?

Eastwood sells everything imaginable for buffing and they sell a product that is a spray that is meant only for polished surfaces. I don't know how well it works but I am gonna give it a shot this summer it inexpensive and worth a shot.

I used some Wheel Clear Coat Powder Coat on my polished surfaces. Theyve been on there for about 6 months now and no issues.
I will say that it does sort of "distort" the reflection. By that i mean, if you look closely you can see the orange peel in the powder. But it makes it to where it literally just wipes off and stays shiny.
I have been told it may yellow. But for the last 6 months i have not had that issue. Mine stays covered and indoors when not in use

Also as far as your bunks go, Yes you could use the cherry picker to lift it.
Or just go float it and change them in the parking lot. Thats what ive done

Well....I am never spray'n anything on my polished parts. Only Mothers Aluminum Polish and a cordless drill w/puff ball for me. Just like regular maintenance:carpet vacuum,waxing gell coat,vinyl prep,trailer repair,polishing aluminum,just regular jetboat maintenance.

Does that pump ever see salt water? Or are you only running in lakes?

i think most anyone here only ever dips their boat in fresh water.
I know theres no way in hell mine will ever see salt.

We had our aluminum scoop polished and clear coated by The Polishing Shop in Oxnard. Its looks good so far.
You do get kind of an orange peel effect but at least no more polishing on that particular part. LOL

Your motor is off the hook. To me that's a 6:2 ratio; 6 hours cleaning for 2 hours use. Lol. But seriously, well done.

Maybe I'll make a little Penner cardboard cut out and set it in the front seat so it can watch over the boat. LMAO !!!

I was worried about that for you so I took the rotors and gears out of it to lighten it up a little, so I think we're good ! Doesn't make much boost anymore though ?
Sorry for the thread jack. Didn't Mike with the 21 Daytona have a polished pump in his 19' ? He may have some advice.

Back to the topic.. I've had some parts polished and clear powder coated in the past. Did not like my results. One season I had my boat stored outside and got some moisture under the cover, all of the pieces got very cloudy.
I've heard some good things about different sealants. You polish everything up and apply a sealer that penetrates in and maintains the shine. Opticoat is one and there's another that I believe starts with a Z. Something to check out…
