Do you guys make your kids wear ear and eye protection?? I got a 2 year old and she really wants to go!! And it's hard to get them to keep the ear weights on or the plugs in.. anybody got any tricks?? Super glue ect? Lol

ear protection for the loud exhaust?  growing up ive never used it and i can hear fine...

if ear damage is such a problem perhaps you should drop off the headers and go for logs to make your boat a little more family friendly.  or do a center rise like mine, i can just dump more water in the exhaust or slip in my baffles to make it VERY quiet.

I'd have to very much second that statement, minus the growing up with the OT headers. But I've been in construction and constituent loud noise all my life. And my hearing is still good.

Ear doctors can make custom ear plugs for kids that are really comfortable and stay in place. My Daughter had some when she was small to keep water out of her ears. About $100 bucks but work great she wouldn't even mess with them.

When my kids were that age (and younger), they didn't seem bothered by the noise.
But why not take the extra precaution. Just because you're OK now doesn't mean damage hasn't been done.
Maybe cut out some felt or other soft fabric and glue the to some earmuffs and tell her they are her "puppy ears".
Maybe one of those wide head bands that women wear in wintertime. I know that sounds crazy at the river but if it blocks some sound is on just while the motors
running.

I don't know, just some ideas. But I think she would be OK.

I would agree with this. just 'cuz "I did this and I don't have a hearing problem" doesn't mean in fact, that you don't. Point of fact, I have significant hearing loss that I have not noticed deteriorating, although those around me DO notice it well! Not just the Women......... ALL of them. I use the Closed Captions, when I watch TV, and movies are a PITA to undertsand what they are saying.

This stems from many YEARS ago of hunting a ton, a lot of shooting with my pops and friends when I was a little cuss with little, insufficent, or no hearing protection (the report of the little .22LR has proven to damage hearing.....). Competetive handgun shooting and drag racing in my 20's and 30's didn't exactly help matters much either,.  and probably accelerated that. My son was 14, Becca 12 when I got into these boats, and some of you may remember them wearing shooting muffs when I had the Hot Rod boats out. Wasn't my rule, they wanted them because the noise  "hurt" according to them. Fortunately I always carry the shooting muffs in the truck. I don't notice a difference with baffles in or not, Nordie can attest to that.
