Wagon on bags build
« on: March 27, 2012, 11:14:03 PM »
So in the excitement of knowing a little one is on the way I decided I want to build a wagon cause theirs no way in hell im gonna pay 350 for one of those cool looking beach wagons.

So after about an hour of terrible drawings I figured out how I was gonna do it do I decided to buy some 3/8 rod and fab up a mini to make sure it would work. Got the front done on the scale model and it looks like its gonna work out so tomorrow ill finish it just for kicks and next week ill start buying steel.

Im using
2- 2 ply air bags rated for 600 pounds a piece at 160 psi that I had on my old S10 ( never gonna get that much air)
2 switches and 4- 1/4' valves ( front- rear up/down)
A mower battery
2- 1 gallon air tanks
Golf cart wheeles
30+ pounds of steel.

Ann
Anyways here's some pics of the model

Got the frame and rear swing arm done today. Had the bag plates tached in sat on it and inflated it. Seems I haven't run into any issues yet......other than busting my ass when I deflated the bag to fast

Made some adjustments to the bag mounting locations and started making the front end.

Well this is how it sits as of 2 mins ago from this post. Don't think im gonna get much further till Monday. Gonna spend the next 5 days in Ohio for my grandmothers funeral. Then all day Monday and hopefully finish fab and break it down for paint. Im stuck between red and gray or blue and grey. Oh and by the way its at 7 foot long now.

That thing is big, you might think about putting an electric motor, battery and steering to it

Brakes would be optional  ;)

Well I do have all the parts left from the golf cart for steering and drivetrain but I weighed it yesterday and right now its 37 pounds. And as far as brakes that's another + to the bags.......I do believe the phrase goes " don't be a fagot and drag it" and that's how I plan on stopping.
