What is the best way to heal up some second degree pipe burns on my arms outer and inner.
-
you know this thread is worthless without pics ;D
just kidding.....flush it with cool running water....dont use ice...
do not put ointments, grease, petroleum jelly, butter, or home remedies on the burn.....these substances can hold the heat in, making the burn worse.
if theres blisters, dont break them.

That.... my boy is a Bassett tattoo. My preference(on the healing side) is aloe vera and vit-E ....and yes this thread needs pics >:D

After the initail "Shock" (slipped and fell on a cam breakin) I cleaned and "debris' it for weeks (scrubbed it with soap and water) and kept it clean and dry (the worst problem is staff infection possibilities) and IF you can get a "script" for "Silvadene" ointment (sulfa) Good Luck Been there and done that Tom

My wife is a burn nurse at the Fresno Community Burn Center and I asked her your question. Tom has it about right--you need to scrub it clean and pink, and put bacitracin (over the counter neosporon) on it. However if there are spots that white or are dark, you'll need the silver dressing--probably from a doctor. Call me if you have any questions--I'll put you in touch with my wife--she's working all night tonight.

Good info Pete , yes the Silvadeen is percription and not only reduces the possibilty of infection but reduces scarring , I was 15 minutes into a cam breakin (dry headers) when I reached in to "blip" the throttle my foot slipped off the trailer and for a second I rested my bicept on the top of the collectors (I also worked the rest of the day )
Don good luck hope it all works out ! be carefull guys those pipes are hot!

Old thread.... But any burns over a few inches on the skin. You should bite the bullet and see a doctor. They can prescribe oral antibiotics. As Tom stated risk of staph infection warrants a visit--plus you can get better pain meds.

It was about 2" long. Neosporin and Band-Aids(big ones) and I am almost completely healed up.
