I live in southern cali and I'm in the need of a good marine/boat big block overhaul.. I've been looking online and only seem to find only two gentlemen so far.. A George Spiegel and ( Tom )JP Performance boats.. I'm new to this website and I'm just trying to find info. on who/where I should take my Ultra 454 boat for service.. I used to go to Tom Papp racing for service. Can anyone suggest/recommend anyone or would you go to Tom or George.. Any info. would be much appreciative.. Thank you 8)

You mean George Striegel? As in clay smith?
If you do, he's a motor guy alright. He built the BBC for my brother-in-law's ultra, I went to high school with his grandson. There was a mishap with the build the first trip out, but the guy stands by his work and redid the whole shebang even with a few extras to make it up.

Call Richard at RC Performance in HB, he's an old timer and honest. He services boats, builds motors and.... has a dyno in his shop.

I used to work with an older gentleman by the name of Lew Larson. It was in a field completely unrelated to boating. At work everyone talked about him and his badass boat engine building skills. He used to even wear a jacket at work claiming the championship of some boat drag racing class from i forget what recent year. Anyway, when i first found the boat forums i was expecting to hear about him or maybe even find him here. Any reason why I don't see his name come up? He owns/owned a shop i believe in the Bellflower area. Wbat happened to him? Are his engines any good?
