This is a good topic and has been brought up on more then one occasion...after long beach last weekend I now know why I have a diesel...brads 5.3 z71 silverado was getting 13.8 mpg towing to long beach...but man when I was driving it pulling them grades that thing would kick down and rev and just down right scare the piss out of me...my 02 duramax pulling a 24 foot toy box loaded got better mileage and would maybe kick down one gear mostly stayed in overdrive though...I swear I'm a diesel guy for good now too...02 duramax crew cab 4x4 6.6 duramax...I love beating them 6.0 powersmokes up the hills...beat a couple cummings too...I'm by no means a 6.0 powersmoke guy seems like they make a lot of noise and don't go anywhere...

Turbo and heads warranty replaced under 100kmiles, the clockspring needs to be replaced so at this point there isn't cruise control or a horn. $13,800

I think you will love that truck. I will not set here and tell you I have not had problems with my truck because I have. I had to replace the High Pressure Oil Pump about a month ago and it cost a ton to do it. It has had it's EGR issues that I believe to all be hind me now. I love my truck.

For Nordie, I promise you that I will not get beat up the hill by a chevy, empty, pullilng, loaded or any other way. Granted my truck is not stock. It does "make alot of noise" but trust me, it goes. I have shown many a Cummins guy just how fast my 6.0 is much to their dismay. It's always fun. Haven't had a chevy with the guts to pull up next to me yet. LOL. This topic is awesome by the way.

Thanks Skip and Jimmy for the responses... yeah the guy said as soon as I replace the clockspring the horn and CC should not be an issue, I did see a 5.7 similar to yours Skip(2008 4X4 CrewMax Automatic, 5.7L V8,  11,500 miles $15,000 ) but i don't want to rush it since i'm leaving to Cancun this Saturday for a week... I guess we'll see if that diesels still available when I get back.

I kinda have to agree with Jimmy. Yeah, my 6.0 is noisy, ask my neighbors at 3:30 in the morning some days! But I am impressed as hell with the thing! Never rode in a Duramax or a Cummins, but when I get on the freeway, she'll wind up to 75 on the ramp before merging like nothing, even with the boat on there! I have to flatfoot my Pontiac to do that. It's an impressive combination, I can tell you that much.

I use my 2500HD over my 1500 Silverado. Don't need brakes or sway package. Just put it in tow mode and go. I know over bumby roads my single cab short bed 1500 would be thrown around. Can hardly notice the boat in a Crew Cab standard bed 2500HD.
