Title: Hey Glenn!
Post by: lbhsbz on October 20, 2014, 10:45:09 PM
It's a step down from the cobalt, but the price was right.  $300, with a "fresh" AQ130/AQ170 Penta setup.  Needs some TLC.   Now I have a shitbox for the river and another for the ocean...any words of wisdom...aside from scuttle the ship?

I figured the tires were worth what I bought it for, so I couldn't lose....too much

Is that a Marlin? I had the Beachcraft version of the same boat LOL... As far as I know, the guy I sold it to still fishes with it in the bay.

The Volvo Penta 130's are bulletproof, they don't make enough HP to break anything and they sip fuel like a Vespa going downhill... Make sure the tilt bail/bracket is in place when towing, this is the weak link on these, the tilt motor is quite delicate and can't take too much of a beating.

I would change out all the bellows before going too far from shore.  ;)

Otherwise, I would be shocked if you break anything. They did have two different alternators though. They had a Prestolite and a Bosch, they were both OK pieces, but they don't put out Squanto for current (like 25 amps). We normally converted them to a 55 amp Mando.

You should be able to check the stamped number about where the bolt holds it on the bracket. If you have dual batteries, it will be pretty lack luster.

Good score.

If I told what I am doing with the Cobalt you would pee yourself.  :screwy:
