You all already know about the leaky toilet, I've rebuilt once, and rather than spend another $50 or so fixing, the same day I was leaving work to buy the stuff to do so, the Plumbing manager caught me at the register. Seems he found a price reduction on some clearance low-pro 1 pieces. (Some $450 marked down to $120). So I do the math, and buy three. Ones giving fits, the others are 20 years old as well, why not?
Haven't installed any yet, as my bathrooms are carpeted (I know, sooooo 70's), and am going to eventually tile everything in the house, for the most part. I decide I might as well tile the bathrooms before all this and get a head start. :thumbup: Already got all the tile I need and picked out months ago (Also clearance, I'm cheap where I can be).
(No Moo boat wallpaper HArry, we don't carry it, it can't be ordered, and if I could and WOULD do that, I think that would only serve to intesify the haunting........if that's what this is.)
Yeah......gonna be more complicated than that, as the hallways will have to be done at the same time, as well as the entranceway to the house. OK, still not so bad. He also wants to rip out the cabinets, etc and do under there in case I go with pedestal sinks in two of them (Thinking about that), still not a bad idea. So I go Yeah, why not? Contract him, Then this.
You, mostly, already know about the Water Heater. Another matter, but ties in and complicates things, IMMENSELY. Leaking pretty good, but still working, so I got a licensed plumber set up from work to come replace it, for $80 this weekend. I buy all the crap. YEA!! great deal. He comes over last nite for a look see, and the heater is in the garage, but backed up against the only wall (3 foot portion, really)common to my basement. And APPARENTLY, I haven't seen this water before because its been running down the wall, rotted out some wood behind the tank, been running along the basement wall, ruining the furring strips holding up the peneling down there, as well as some of the paneling, then under a very small portion of concrete to the floor drain (Fortunately, THAT worked). Obviously, theres also a good, solid Mold issue......the guns were locked up........good thing!
After he showed me the part where it was running down the wall of the garage, I had already started drinking. Not beer either. By the time we reached the basement to take a peek under a piece of paneling and under a small portion of carpet, I was foregoing any mixers in the Rum, and by the end was cocktail glasses of Single Malt Scotch saving room for 1 ice cube.(Something I may never be able to afford again after all this! lol).
Welcome to home ownership, lol. (it gets a lil worse, but that was the estimate he gave me using his current subcontractors on an "official" basis. I STILL get to pay a fraction of that, which is most unpleasant in and of itself!)

Maybe I'm lucky, in a way, and all the gremlins are out of the boats in the garage and they migrated to the house! Where's Ghost Hunters??? :sly:

Ray, sorry to hear about the house! Ive been pretty lucky each time Ive had a water heater issue and caught it within a few hours. But I have seen the damage they can cause when not caught quickly.
Get it done right and you wont have to worry about it 'til the kids are well into college!

LOL! Jury's still out on my home warranty I bought when I bought the house. Crossing my fingers!
It'll be OK regardless, I will have put a ton of value into a house I was FAR from upside down in anyway, but the figure stood me back a bit!

Ray I wount be funnen ya on the paper anymore bud was there five months ago first the water heater sweated pipes myself 20 year home depot toilet in master stuck while at wally world buying china stuff son calls and said water in hall all the way to foyer thank god it stoped at my little girls room had just done wood floor in there so long story short hall and master painted nad new carpet master bath tiled floor and shower stall new glass stall doors vanity counter top pipes and got a deal on retro windows whole house so Ray Iam Sorry little brother good luck :-*

We be OK! ;) Just an inconvenience, a hassle, and yeah, the money, but hey, just keeps me from buying more boats at the moment! It'll be fixed over the next week or so. Lots of favours and slave labour being employed on this one! The toilets and tile I've managed to put on hold for now.
Sorry to hear about yours Harry! Sounds like a major one as well, lol.
Kinda funny I just get into boats and all these problems (Including Moo) are caused by water............... :screwy:
Now that I think about it though, mighta been cool to let the basement fill up and be a testing and tuning area.............

At the old dealer I worked for before they sold we were a yamaha sport boat dealer and jet skis had a big test tank to run the skis in was cool even had a thrust gauge to see what it pulledmy first jet was a 23ft sr230 twin pumps and motors cool family boat :)

Had a washing machine "hose" Burst while we were away for the day a few years back Homeowners ins took care of everything no questions no hassles Tom
Btw when we leave now (weekends etc) we turn the h2o off , also replaced the wash and toilet stingers with braided stainless type

Naw, they make these new "floodsafe" Braided stailess hoses for washing machines, water heaters, dishwashers, refrierators, toilets and sink supply lines is what Tom's talking about. Somehow, dunno how, they're supposed to shut off when there's a leak.
Have no idea how it knows the difference between useage and a leak, but my master plumbers swear they work!

Yeah Harry I got Anno fittings to match my towels and Decor ;) but seriously Funny thing about my "incident " a year or so later I got my deductible back from my insurer they "subrogated" against the hose manufacturer T
