We could always tell when you were about to "touch bottom" by the sudden increase in RPM...

Pretty funny, I know there is a beer drinking story that goes with this... ;)

Hey wait a minute! Hold the damn phone. The only way your boat could have gotten "too close to the rocks" is if someone was throwing them at your boat....  :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly:

You know you've been too close to the rocks when...

You look in the back of your bowl and see this,

and after investigating, you find this,

In 1996 we hit a gravel bar at full tilt and blew the bowl right off the pump... The boat didn't really "sink" because the water was only 3" deep.  :screwy:

We walked out of the river up to the road, hitched a ride into town, got the truck and went back up river and replaced the pump right there on the gravel bar... Had it back up and running in about three hours and was able to start the race the next morning (this was a practice/shakedown run on the Friday before the race). The awesome part was, the river went up 6" over night and we had the balls/stupidity to go through there again...  :sly:

Boy was my grandfather mad when he realized we took the pump out of his fishing boat.  >:D  I sure miss that man.  :'(

I always say, we weren't the fastest boat on the water, but we had to be fun to watch... ;D

My mom called us "Busted laces racing"  ???

Well see what happend was, I put the diverter on last night and this morning on my way to work I was walking by the boat and got alittle to close to the rocks (water saving yard no grass all lava rock.....ugly as hell but big discount on the water bill) and bam ended up on my ass and on the way down I reached out and grabbed it and POP off it went. Pissed me off.
