Title: i have the worst luck ever
Post by: AQUAHOLIC on July 01, 2007, 09:56:05 PM
so all you know i have been having problem after problem with the aquaholic. they boat is brand new now. the only thing left is the hull that was not rebuilt.

so anyway this weekend i get out to the river early hook up a new started and finish off the stereo system. it sounds bad ass by the way. so sat morning. i fire up the boat a couple times to make sure it starts. it has never ran better. we load the boat up and head up river to set up camp for the day. i get about 3 miles start hearing a noise then the boat just shuts off. i lift the engine cover and hear a bubbleing sound coming from the oil pan. i pull the oil cap and i see water in the oil. so i am like here we go again. we sit in the boat till we float back to camp thanks to the current. so i fire it back up to get it into the boat ramp area. And i have one hell of a mean james bond smoke screeen behind the boat. it drew quite the crowd. so i pulled the boat out and told it to screw itself i am going to enjoy my weekend. so i launched my jet ski and enjoyed the rest of the weekend.

i am heading back to the river on wed night. so i was just wondering if any of you old timers knnow what happend to my boat. that motor probably does not even have 10 hours onit yet. i was running it at about 4krpm when it went and all guages seemed to be normal.

is it normal to not be able to enjoy your boat.??? i hope it get better or  my first boat might be my last. i have much better luck with my sand toys.

This does happen , alot . I'm gonna say it was a head gasket , but who knows for sure until it's torn down . Where was the engine built . If an engine builder misses a step , this is what happens . Everyone makes mistakes , it just a matter of who's paying for it . At least your trailer is still kickin . :-\

the motor was done at a place called j and j up in ridgecrest ca. these guys rock i dont think it was an assembly problem. if we find that they my work with me on getting it rebuilt. I noticed some oil dripping from the right side exhaust so i am going to pull that head first. i just hope it is a head gasket. i dont want to pull the motor again. and if it is only the one side that will make my work that much easier.

I'm changing my diagnosis . Broken ring .  ??? AHHH dont listen to me . I'll just make it worse . In my saguaro , I had taken the boat completely apart , motor and all before I got all the bugs worked out of it . Now it's just a tuning nightmare ! Good luck brutha ! Dont let me beat you out to Blythe !

maybe too much water pressure? do you have a regulator? I am no mechanic, but I hear that too much water pressure is one of the leading causes with boats that have water in the oil.

Yep.

Aquaholic, it does happen a lot, especially jets.

I dunno, a friend of mine got his v-drive flattie on the water today for the first time, previous jet owner, loves the flattie, rides a little rougher, goes a hell of a lot faster, cruises around 40 mph @ 2500 RPM - can't do that with a jet. But then again he can only sit 2 in his boat and he won't be floating on top of any sandbars either....

I've pulled my motor apart and put it back together a couple of times . Never had anything that serious go wrong . It aint as hard as you think.

It also could be something as simple as a intake manifold gasket , they tend to blow out a lot sooner than a head gasket due to water pressure.

i hope it is a gasket problem. there is no way to tell until i get it apart on thurs.

i will be waiting for you to stop by denis. i am sure my boat will be well taken apart by the time you get there. i found crate motor marine 454s online for 2k with a warrenty.. that might be something to look into. they also have free shippin...

anyway i am not going to let this boat beat me.. i know i am smarter than that thing..hahahah.... see you guys on the river this weekend.
