Title: I just wanna kill somethin'!
Post by: GlassCutter on December 24, 2009, 01:25:56 PM
Pulled the cover off of the boat today and its full of water !!!         AAARRRGGGHHHHH   :banghead:      :banghead:

It has been covered by three different covers or tarps AND IT STILL GOT 2 SHOP VACS FULL OF WATER IN IT.

I'm not even done yet.   Finally got smart and raised the bow up high.   Oh yeah, of course I managed to tip the vac over when it was filled once.   There is so much dirt on the deck I could grow shit.

The radio is broke.   The Captain's chair is has pulled up from the floor.   Clean or not I'm getting it wet next month.     Man you ballers with garages are lucky sons of bitches.                Well the grommets are done raking leaves so I'm back on it.       So F'n pissed .....

That sucks Glass... Im trying to figure out what to do when mine is together, wont fit in the garage with the pump, divertor and tongue on the trailer and dont want it outside for that exact reason.

Found a place close that has 10x30's inside units but they want $250/month  :screwy: 3k a year to store it, No way!

just curious....do you have the drain plug out? if so, why doesnt the water drain out?

seems silly the boat would be built where water would be trapped and collect without a way to drain out.

regardless, that really sucks, im sorry to hear that.

i pull the plug and prop up the tongue...its ok if it gets wet, just as long as the water isnt sitting in it collecting.

for the race boat, i pull the motor after every race and it sits in the garage on a stand until the next race.

That sucks GC, I bought a 10' X 20' canopy for mine and keep it in the driveway with NO cover on it. Bought the canopy at kragens for a little over 1 bill.  Also like Brad said I keep the bow way up and the plug out. Just my .02

3 bolts and the tongue comes off just behind the nose of the boat. With the bowl on the pump and the tongue off it will fit, but with the PD on its gonna be REALLY close. Not a big deal to pull the 6 nuts and 2 bolts on the PD to know its safe in the garage.

I still like the swing away deal and will probably get that done after summer. The trailer could use a resto (Media Blast and Powder coat)

Finished for now.    Hard to get the bow high where I have to keep it.  Problem was that it all pooled in a corner of the cover that just kept getting lower the more rain it collected.   Over the backseat so no support from underneath.   I had 2 of those big ass blue tarps but none of the 3 had much in the way of weatherproofing ability.   Shit gets old, rust never sleeps.   Noticed the very most forward point now has bow rail sticking thru it thanks to age and recent high winds.
I sucked out 3 shop vacs full of water from the carpet.   Battery charger on the seat left rust marks real bad.  Wonder if it still has moitsture in it.  Kinda afraid to turn it on.   Half assed washed it and feel so much better about the old girl.  Even now this boat still makes me smile when its out in the sun.   My wife and her girlfriend are badasses with a sewing machine but I don't know about letting 'em loose on my boat.  They want to attack the interior and re do the whole thing.   I want one more season out of it, and let somebody else do the interior.   Gonna be hard to let loose of the brown fur across the ceiling of the ball room.  Not!
Peeked under the hatch . . . yup your Grandfathers Olds is still there.   Damn !

Merry Christmas me hearties        Don't forget the reason for the season and get yourselves to church tonight.    I have a date with a hot shower and then it is off to my 83 yr old father for a little Christmas cheer.    Good times

I feel your pain John.
Thats why I gots one of them thar 3k storage units.
My boat hasnt worn its cover in almost two years.
I wrench on it and pull the interior apart and then I can leave it like that until I'm good and ready to come back and finish what I'm doing.
As a matter of fact, I was standing in there while there was a torential down pour thinkin to myself, "sure am glad my shit aint getting wet."

My blue boat sat outside and I cant tell you how many times I've had to drain water out of it, repolish aluminum, redo upholstery, ect. ect.
You'll almost do that much damage in one winter.
Not to mention now , when it rains, I can actually sleep at night and then wake up in the morning and go wrench on my shit WHILE its raining the next day  ;D

Baller                  (I swear I never thought I would use term for you )
Seriously, your shit looks good.   I'm happy good people are getting to enjoy life, you guys deserve it.  Shit my wife is complaining about the storage that I do have that only runs $100 mo.
Dunno why but I always picture the creamsicle with twin turbos.   Start workin' on that would you?

The problem with my boat was my own doing.  Just tried to stretch cheap fixes one too many years.   Another trip to Harbor Frieght for some new blue tarps and I'm golden.    Peace So Cal Jet Boat.com

John Bummer about your boat , rip stops create condensation and make matters worse , get a canvas cover as they "breath"  (under 200) "tent" it (support the center) and make or buy desicant bags to help deal with the moisture Tom

you can buy desicant at the super market in Milk cartons and use old socks as bags

It's 14 ft tall inside so I can (and will in the future) add a second floor to the inside.
For whatever reason I can possibly come up with .

I always imagined it with twin hair dryers also but I had to pay rent
Besides , I have bigger fish to fry.
Dont let it get you down, just stay on it .
