Title: I need some advice on a possible trade
Post by: 1972Challenger on December 07, 2011, 07:27:45 AM
hello everybody... i am in kind of a bind right now and need advice....

i have a '72 challenger jet with a ford 390FE motor.. right now tho there are no gas tanks in it, but i have them already made. i just got to do some fiberglass work and buy a couple of parts so i may install the tanks,...

this is where it gets tricky....

i have a buddy who is selling a YZF 250 for $1,500. i talked to him and he wants a boat. We got into talking and he said that he would trade me the bike and $1,000 for the boat, as is...

now that would be $2,500 in cash & trade...

is this a good deal. i figured that the boat was worth about $3,500 to $4,000 when it is running...

thanks for any input

What year YZF...and its like a yz125 in power. If the bike is only a couple years old, thats sounds like a good deal. Do you plan on getting another boat?

general rule of thumb... anything is only worth as much as what someone is willing to pay for it.

just remember that the boat while not worth much now, CAN be redone, etc to be made worth more.  theres some 1970's boats out there that are pristine and worth a lot of money because people appreciate them.

that quad will just continue to fall in value.  it doesnt matter if you sink $5k into the quad with upgrades... its still a quad.  no one pays top dollar for an old quad.  they want a new one.

the only prob is that i dont want to o drop 5 grand into my boat.. its an older boat yes and if u put money in it you can get it out, yes... bikes fall in value, yes..

but the thing is that i dont want to drop alot of money in it when i only use it 4 times a year

and you'll use the quad more?  do you have friends who go riding?  riding by yourself sucks.  at least you can fit a few buddies in a boat.

its a dirt bike.. and i ride with my girl but i only fot one bike.. this will give me another so she can ride with me.. and ya i go riding atleast 3 times or more a month..

having another bike will also be cool so if one of my buddies wants to ride(if he doesnt have a bike) then he would be able to use mine

if you do trade never loan the bike to a bud!!!!! if they dont own one theres a reason! a cant afford it . b to stupid to ride c knows better and is going to hurt them selves. dont loan out your other bike ever!!!!! just saying!

true dont loan bikes. sometimes i will let someone ride one of mine if i am going on the ride as well that way i can keep an eye on them.

The best girlfriend/wife bike on the planet is the CRF 250X. hands down. its got electric start and is tough as nails. My wife has been riding the same one for about 4 years now. Hell I have even raced the bike. power is there the electric start always fires and the damn thing just keeps going. if amanda gets in trouble on here bike she just punches out and lets the bike fall where it may. she has thrown it off clifs and all kinds of gnarly stuff. I just pick the bike up dust it off and away we go.

the one girly mod i had to put on the bike was the Kuba lowering link. drops the bike like 2 inches so she can touch the ground with both feet.

anyway if you are ever up in the high desert, jawbone, spangler, wagon wheel, or ridgecrest area hit me up. Or if you want to make a trip out here I have spare bedrooms and we can ride the desert from my garage. No bike loading needed.

If you can do a ride trip to Randsberg on a weekend i would recommend that.. that place rocks. its about a half hour ride from my house.
