Need a few goats to keep the weeds down on the property...pros cons...fencing dos and donts ...any input from you guys? 

Ya I'm afraid of them chewing everything up...I've heard of rental services....that might be a better way than having my own

They like to climb things to! So make sure there's nothing around that you don't want hoof prints on!!! I seen one standing on top of a brand new pickup truck one day! Only reason I laughed was cuz it wasn't my truck! LOL

My buddy manages a huge  couple hundred acre oil field and they get 2-300 goats out there every couple months and they mow everything down in about a week or two.

They love too eat particle board=dead goat.

They are a pain in the ass. Back when I lived on a small ranch,  part of the responsibilities was to keep the place up,  they had four longhorn steer and would bring 7 goats out once a year to help with the overgrowth of the weeds the longhorn wouldn't eat. They would eat EVERYTHING,  garden hoses,  electrical conduit from the well,  fence boards,  rope,  plastic trash cans,  the buckets marking the irrigation line valves,  the seat off the tractor,  EVERYTHING.

If you can keep them penned in a small area and move them around, it would be a awesome.

I recommend a riding mower and a twelve pack,  way less stress. Lol

The funniest goat story I ever heard was from a friend of my dad's.  He's know to tell the best stories and never a dull moment.

He tells me he had a horse ranch just south of here and he had a car collection of unrestored fairly rare cars. He liked all the goofy stuff,  the Lincoln Town Car Ranchero conversion,  convertible Corvair, just oddball goofy shit.

So anyway, he somehow ends up with this Indianapolis 500 Anniversary edition Corvette. He wanted to keep it with the few Chevy cars he had by the barn.  It had rained like crazy that year and the grass was 6' tall, he decides to hire some goats because of the mud,  a tractor would have sank and made a huge mess. Anyway,  the goats were there for about a week and when the grass was short enough to see the cars,  he could see that they had literally eaten the fenders right off the Corvette,  all four fenders were opened up like 6 to 8".

Add to that,  the Corvair looked like it was in a Midwest hail storm with bocci ball sized hail.

They apparently really enjoyed the convertible top too, the goats were sleeping on the front seat...


Every time I hear that story I damn near cry laughing.
