I've been working on it for over a year and got it wet for the first time a couple weeks ago. 1965 Stevens flatbottom jet with a .060 over 390 FE and Berk JA.
First time out it GPS'ed a brain numbing 44.3 on the primaries only. As soon as you open up the secondaries, it blows out the pump. I think I have a bit of cav plate adjustment to do

Mike, looks great in the water. Judging from this old ad, you got at least 15 mph left to find that's hiding somewhere in that set up. ;)

What a cool ad... never seen that one before. I'm pretty sure the plates are up too high, 'cuz the pics I have of it on plane show the bow up a tad high. It's just like clockwork... when you're doing around 35 or 40 and open the secondaries, it's just like a slipping clutch. It's nice to know the engine is putting out plenty of power, I can't wait to actually APPLY it to the water!
Turning this one at speed is a trip too. In the Advantage, when you turn, it's relatively flat. In THIS, when you turn, it leans into the turn like a motorcycle. I can see where it would be a REAL PIA to turn without the turning fin, As it is, it's kinda fun to bank into the turn and feel the transom drop.

I'm sure once you get the boat dialed in it'll be second nature to you driving the ol' girl.
Forgot to mention, that ad is from 1965...just like your boat. :)
What a great line up of boats in that shot, and I'd take any one of them today, well, maybe except for that Glen L and the far end. Would love to see a better shot of that boat second from the top, with the good lookin' wood deck.
Cool boats, lots of white interior, white covico steering wheels, chick with a beehive hairdo, couple of deck mount tachs...makes me feel 9 or 10 years old again. lol

Probably one of the coolest boats I've seen . You did a great job roost. For a while there I was lookin to get an older boat and try my hand at a resto . I finally quit because I thought for sure MY hands wouldn't be able to bring out all the cool those boats have . I'm jelous and envious Mike ! Great lookin ride !

It's the story of my life... my stuff doesn't really fit ANYWHERE. It's for sale or trade for 32-4 3 or 5 window. Not likely THAT will fit in with HAMB either! ;D

Let me tell you something, you find someone stupid enough to trade a duece 3 window, or a 5 window for that matter, or a 33-34 coupe, for a fiberglass fad T, send 'em my way when you're done with them. I got some swamp land I'd like to unload. ;)

Stupid? Wow.. I didn't think you had that narrow of a view of cars. I never said steel and really don't care if it's glass or steel. I'm not a car snob... I like most everything. With alot of the crap on HAMB, maybe they're hoping I'm stupid enough to trade with THEM.

I'm not a car snob either, although glass cars aren't my thing, 'cept for 53-4 vettes which I could never afford. It's just you're looking to trade for the most wanted cars on the planet, and I doubt that many who owned a 32, or a 33-4 would trade for a fad T. ;) If you'd like a glass coupe, go for it. It's just like boats...apples and oranges. To each his own.
And judging from the lack of any response to you ad, I'd say again that car doesn't really fit in with that crowd, don't know if that's good or bad. That's just the nature of that site. I don't like all the cars there, some are pretty crude so I mainly post on the 4 banger threads, model T and A banger engines. I like the old, slow, leaky stuff.

I love the old sh!t ;D The kind of crap that was built in a garage with a torch, a grinder, and a sh!t load of work ;D
But... I prefer the look of a flathead 8 ;) over the older 4's, but I definately see the attraction of that older school ;) stuff. I worked on the coolest freakin' '29 one time with a hopped up 4 ;) ;D freakin' header stickin' out the side.... :o SIK
