This FMX stuff is just stupid.  If you look at the other videos on that linked page you will see he crashed his brains out two years ago doing this stunt.
Just this past week one of my students was telling me that he has a half-brother that was on the Metal Mulisha team.  He was until he became a quadrapalegic when he came up a bit short.     Frankly I think it is irresponsible for any parent to encourage this kind of activity.  Supercross had become bad enough, but FMX is just too much.  I dunno maybe I'm just getting old . . .

no, i totaly agree. i saw his crash from the x games and he was very lucky to not have gotten as hurt. i used to work on alot of those guy's bikes when i worked at temecula motorsports and 79 south motorsports. they freesytle scene is all about who is willing to take it to the next level. unfortunately the next level today is causing some people some serious life-changing injuries or even their life.

and yes supercross is getting to that point as well. i saw a kid (justin keeney) i used to race with finish 9th in the main event of the lites class at supercross on saturday. i decided to stop racing when i was 17 and became a father, he is racing pro supercoss. now racing is just a once a month (maybe) thing and i don't feel like i have to push it to the max. i guess thats how it goes when you have a job to go to on monday morning...

Yeah he finished 9th and made enough money for a Happy Meal and a movie ticket.   I don't understand why the riders don't look out for the up and comers more.  Another sick, sad, silly way to try to get a little fame.

It is all about choices!

I truly wish the riders ould band together and do a PBR type of deal and promote their own series!

Now for the sad news:

It is with great sadness that we report Jeremy Lusk succumbed to his injures tonight at 11:03pm PST. He was surrounded by his loving Mother and father, Chuck & Gina Lusk, his wonderful wife Lauren, his mother and father in law Lyne & Larry along with his closest Mulisha friends Brian Deegan, Ryan Hagy, Cameron Steele & Erik Apple. He is now with our Heavenly Father and is at peace. We know he is performing sick tricks for all those in Heaven to crowds greater than we have ever seen. We will miss you Pitbull!

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

We will provide further updates on arrangements when we get them.

Joe

To shamelessly steal a line  "Momma don't let your sons grow up to be Freestylers"

RIP  Jeremy

Some of my buddies and I ride, but it scares me all the time. You have to think if it worth it to risk your life like that. I think it was about 3-4 years ago, I witnessed a girl that lost her life riding a dirt bike getting creamed by a sand rail 300 yards off Gecko in Glamis. Makes you think twice about Glamis. It could have been me or my buddies. We were just behind the rail.

I also went to high school with Kyle Loza. He won gold metal for best trick in the X Games the last 2 years in a row.

I am pretty much over riding anymore. I don't have time to, its expensive, and I'll have more money to throw towards the boat. Haven't ridden in over a year and don't really plan on riding anytime soon either. Probably put the quad up for sale.

Condolences to the Lusk family.

RIP Jeremy. My prayers are with his family and friends and fans!!!

I quit riding because I hurt my back. I still miss it everyday, but I just couldn't take the chance of ending up in a wheelchair. So now I've concentrated on building a nice jet boat, then a nice off road vehicle (Jeep or rock crawler), and finally a wicked nasty muscle car (69 Nova with 632ci bbc and 6 speed manual trans).
